That was a blast, the first race I had a couple of problems, sorry Church for rear ending you at the hairpin, missed my breaking point, then a couple of laps later my wheel turned of and I went right of track just before the second last bend, restarted it and managed to finish race, second race was a alot better for me, had a good race and managed a couple of overtakes, definately getting more used to racing, all in all that was some much fun, cannot wait for the next round.
Well that was the best racing I have had ina long time, came down to the final straight and lost out to Helios in another Camaro by a fenders length. Sounds like we battling for the lead but this was down in 8th place....
Camaro's were about 3 seconds off the mini pace but still really good stuff.
Fitzy i feel bloody awful about our coming togeather, no excuse I just got it all wrong and missed my breaking point by about a week...
Managed to beat my personal lap in the heat of racing, looking forward to next week and thanks for putting this togeather.
While that was mostly fun and I have certainly laid out my intentions to compete, I feel there was far too much heavy contact, I was sent from third to last on the first lap of the second race by being rear ended so hard I was smashed into the wall. Maybe damage should be on do dial back on this kind of thing? Still a fantastic first race battle between Temelomen and myself just the occational light contact on a couple of occations as he tried to pass. Class racing.
Well done homework knight !!! Just passed me like on car park - don't know why i couldnt do better time - sort of tricky 2-gear corners i think. Any way few good overtaking, few places lost but like always great fun !! Cheers guys !!

It does take a few races for people to get used to what contact is, it is the lightest of all taps. Basically you should bend the metal of your car, only scape paint! :)
I will get tougher on the next race for incidents, please try not to spoil others races :)
Just a technical question - why from the half of the race car started to feel like used tyres ? We had damages off - i checked telemetry and usage 0 but car been handling compleatly different ?? Only one think could be tyre temp. but it shouldn't change as i been doing the same crap all race.

i dont think the tyres get any real heat into them untill around lap 5/6, damage on or not
Excellent racing with Knight on race 1. I got really close few times, but just couldn´t make the last move, nice driving there Knight
On race 2 I received two really heavy hits on rear, but somehow managed to keep my car on control and carry on. I think I dropped to 5th or 6th, but somehow I was able to pull back up to second place. Parcells was too fast though, no chance to challenge him!

Yep, we were quite close few times with Knight:
Not sure if I have internet connection next sunday so I hope I can join @ Road America, it will be interesting for sure!
Brilliant battles Dawg (up until the Lag Tag). That was damn near a text book over-under pass-repass! And to think we did it in 3000# muscle cars that were past the point of adhesion w/ no contact.
I'm still chalking that one wreck up to lag, we'd been running far too close w/ no contact (well, ok, minimal) all night to all of a sudden get blasted from behind like that. See ya next week. Hopefully we got a little something for those pesky Minis. I still think we did a rather fine job of keeping them at bay for the first 5 laps of race 2.....of course that's likely because we were both able to get out front w/ one guy running while the other was keeping the Minis stacked up.
Absolutely love the Minis! Had fun both races but the first was seriously fun. Started at the very back, worked my up to “almost fourth” (WHEN I generated the smoke screen picture above – Lolman pictures) meaning I would have had fourth if I didn’t lock up my brakes…I knew it was aggressive but also knew it could have been pulled off it just didn’t work out, totally my fault, I don’t think I screwed anyone else during this skid (??? If so my apologies) but sent me to the back of the field again.
Worked my way back up to fourth at which point I followed Fitzy for the last 5-6 laps, had more speed in turns 3-4 than Fitz but never got it right but had a total blast passing 12+ cars and literally neck and neck with Fitzy the last third, it was brilliant!
From my view point when you went off you were about 10-15 feet in front of me and were then flying off into the undergrowth, so will cahlk it up toa little lag as later in the race I think we were both 'flying'.
Will send you a little gift later to attach to your battle bus...
Would be interested to see the lap time differnace Mini to Camaro in room 1, I think we were lapping in th elow 1.38's whilst I noted that Knight's fastest lap was a 1.35! I think we need an extra 100hp...
Round one definitely favoured the Minis but Parcells thinks round two will definitely favor the Camaros, probably round three too and let's call round 4 a split???
The mini was about .5 sec quicker here but we get our own back later. Defend you inside with the Camaro and you will make it hard for the mini to pass :)

Yes in the second race I had to make my way through from last after the shunt, every Camero gave away the inside line sooner or later by trying to corner faster than me, had they held their line and used their speed on the straights it would have been a lot harder. I would have been forced to take the long way around.
Once into clean air I go into hot lap mode and just stay consistantly close to my best time.
But Road America you Camero drivers have the slight advantige, hog the racing line and it could well be a different story...I will be putting in something like a hundred laps over this week to try and make sure that doesn't happen
That's exactly what I was doing in Race 2 (and a marvelous job if I do say so myself), but eventually the pack of Minis had enough of staring at the Camaro tail lights and took to nudges in the back bump on corner exit to get the Camaro to step out, drift wide and lose the launch onto the straight. Once the first 3 or 4 figured it out and got past me, I watched them swarm up and work the same tactic over on Dawg.

It was like watching a pack of piranhas.
Spent some time last night watching these races (very entertaining) and I agree with your analysis that you blocked (totally legally mind you) the inside apex exceptionally well Helios.
In the second race I was watching Knight follow you and eventually his patience wore thin so entering the third last turn (left hander) he gave you a slight nudge going WAY inside (half the car in the grass because you had the inside) and in the next turn it looked like you decided turn about is fair play so you nudged him gently upsetting his turn-in to the last sweeping right hander. Next lap, the EXACT same scenario played out but Knight did manage to get by you this time.
These nudges we’re 100% acceptable and totally within the spirit of BTCC style so do not get the impression Parcells thinks either of you we’re overly aggressive it was simply great racing as was a lot of both races. Didn’t have time to review all perspectives but for a pure adrenalin rush check out Parcells, Fitzy and Bastek during lap 9 (and first of lap 10) of the first race…the three of us were bobbing and weaving with multiple positional changes as we fought for the last podium position it was totally awesome stuff.
In the first race it turns out I did not lock up my brakes as I wrote above, I came out of turn 4 with great momentum as I caught a pack of three cars in a heated battle (camaro holding up two Minis well ) and luckily maneuvered myself into passing the Minis but didn’t get on the brakes early enough going into the hairpin right hander as I followed the Camaro so ducked into the inside and BAM the Mini nailed me off the track back into the rear of the pack…still completely my fault but no brake lock up and thankfully I was the only one who got screwed over.
The mini was about .5 sec quicker here but we get our own back later. Defend you inside with the Camaro and you will make it hard for the mini to pass :)
just give em a nudge, its a big car it can take it

I have saved the replay of that one...mostly to see exactly why I was hit so hard on a hairpin, but also to examine my own overtakes and make sure I wasn't overly aggressive. I will now make sure I take a look at the "piranha" maneuver
Hehe, now mind you I don't know that the nudges were "intentional", as there seemed to be a bit of rubbing going on behind me as they were scrabbling for position. It was more a matter of the Camaro losing grip w/ even a light tap while trying to get the power down off the corner.
Now mid corner or corner entry under braking...I was watching the Minis bounce off the Camaros like ping pong balls.
Well that was some very good racing, Raddo really defended well and took home a 2nd place despite 2 mini's and a camaro hounding him for position!
Just a reminder, please try to keep it to soft contact :) Avoid rear Quarters if you can :)

Brilliant battles at the back in Room 2.
If I find the time, I'm going to try to work on a bumper sticker before next race for my fellow Intermediate Camaro drivers.
Thanks Parcells.
The results are up, as you can see the new structure will make this bloody close racing :)
Well done all :)

Nice photo!! How you managed 5th I have no idea after those two massive hits!
Definitely will take a little getting used to.
I certainly think that some of the contact I was involved in could have been more subtle, and I am in fact criticising myself there not anyone else.
Going to reflect on it and learn some lessons.
1st race fine. 2nd race span out and came back on in 10th. I felt very clumsy after a clean first race. Pace was there, just not the racecraft.
I think that Camaro is going to kill the minis on Road Am. Not so sure about Atlanta.
