Halo 3 RECON Armour to be unlocked for everyone.

As part of the final transition from Bungie.net to Waypoint, everyone gets RECON.

From WAYPOINT.

I like my recon. It would be sweet if they unlocked the flaming helmets for everyone.

If you have the PC Halo DVD code, and have played H3 and Reach as a registered Bungie user, you should be able to unlock the "Halo" nameplate.  That's how I got mine.

I think the nameplates are still an unknown quantity after the stats switch over.

Keep your fingers crossed.

To unlock the 'Halo' nameplate, you need to have the following nameplates/emblems already unlocked:

Halo CE

Halo 2

Halo 3

I do not have the PC code for CE. I played it on the original Xbox, so I'm not about to go buy a copy for the PC just for the nameplate.

Now if anybody has an extra code they aren't using, well that's different...wink

Halo CE PC was really fun.  I purchased a copy a year after it launched for PC (I want to say late 2004 is when I purchased it?).  I played it for hundreds of hours.  However, around 2006, the servers turned into either 'pistol only' or 'no pistols allowed' and you would get booted if you didn't adhere to the rules.  That's how dominate the pistol was.  This makes me want to find my copy and see if the servers are still running.  Such fun times.

Not only are the servers still running, many are still nicely populated. I okay at work occasionally. Halo PC was the first one I played.

so, today is supposed to be the last day for Bungie on b.net with Halo hosting.  Uh, they just took it down "for maintenance."  So much for letting people use today to finish their uploads and renders.  Guess we are screwed.  Thanks Bungie.

H2, H3, and H3 ODST stats are still up.  Just saw a message on my H3 stat page saying data no longer collected  --  go to waypoint.  What was interesting is that I was able to upload a film to my H3 file share.

You should be able to use your file share, but you won't be able to access it from Waypoint until an unannounced time during the summer.

Reach file shares are supposed to begin increasing in size starting tomorrow.  It's supposed to be rolled out over a series of days/weeks, just like Recon.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.  Waypoint is definitely not collecting detail data for H3 or ODST, just Reach and CE Anniv.  Bungie has the detail stats for the older games but has cut off data collection for them just like Reach.  Currently can't get to Reach File Share.  Really hope that is only temporary.  Have a few rendered videos there.

They said in the bulletin they're still working on bringing the Reach File Share over to Waypoint servers. ETA for that is "summer" but that that date is quickly approaching. Also they're increasing the size of our file share from 6 to 24.

B.net is now in the frozen state stats-wise.  I still have access to file share, but cannot upload anything new.  Just tried that.  Uploaded a short film from my local files.  XBOX showed successful upload, but does not show up in my B.net file share.  Also, film rendering is no longer available.  WELL CRAP.  I guess until 343 gets its act together,  we will all have to dust off our capture devices.

life happens.  I meant to upload and render my last files but stuff came up and I haven't gamed in the past week.  I was all set to log on and finish on 3/31, the supposed final day, but they didn't give us the whole day.

Going to just be a big hole out there until 343 gets their file share act going.  Ironically one can download rendered videos and screenshots from b.net file share to their PC, but cannot download unrendered films, maps, or gametypes to their XBOX, even from their own file share.  If someone wants something capped and they don't have their own capture device, well either Rube Goldberg it or too bad. If someone wants a map or gametype, then they have someone else load it up, play it, then save to local files, and so on and so on.

Yes, we knew this date was coming...but so did 343.  The fact that there will be a 2+ month period where we cannot perform operations that we have been performing for years is inexcusable IMO.  Add to that the loss of some interwebz  functionality (rendering videos for example) and my concern level goes up for how well 343 will support the user base going forward.  As to the "we are prioritizing resources to H4 to be the best game ever" crapola one hears in response to some of these concerns -- HIRE MORE PEOPLE.

End of rant.

Word.  Bungie was still supporting Halo 3 and ODST when Reach came out, and did until the end.  They handed over all their resources to 343, so it should not have been an issue.  Except 343 wants to do their own thing, which I do support - however they whole point of the rabid fanbase of Halo is the stat tracking and file sharing.  Take that away and it's just CoD in space.

This.

I would have preferred resources were directed towards file shares, video rendering, advanced stats, and continued H3 stats, than something like ATLAS.  I'll never use ATLAS.  Does anyone else?

Crap.  I got curious about it, deleted the double post, but killed your post too Deep.  I copy and pasted it, though for you.  I should have followed directions.  Blergh.

I'm curious. Did you use the in-game REACH fileshare search to look at someones fileshare? I was able to this before and download whatever I wanted. I was under the impression the function still existed. No?

Like you said, 343i should have had put resources behind this part of the rollover. Now we have to wait months for something that made REACH that little bit more special. Even that picture I took of us last week would not be reasonably possible now.

FYI. I'd delete your double post but I am afriad I'd delete the whole topic. LOL
