Rocksmith: Show Us Your Axe

Figured this would be a good place for some guitar porn. I don't have any pics of mine yet but I know some of you other guys do. Let's see them.

I was really considering one of those but went with the Strat style instead.  I still want an LP but I've decided not to buy anything for a good while until I really know what I want.

Everytime I see a new guitar I want it.  Will probably buy Epiphone Les Paul soon.  Then I need something with a whammy bar.  That's how I shop for guters!

Epi LP's are nice if you go with the carved top. They range from around 399-599 at GC. I'll be finishing my build this weekend so I'll post some pics.

Finally got around to taking a picture of my Fender Starcaster:

I upgraded all the electronics and put in a new trem with a solid steel block.  It plays pretty nice for a beginner guitar.

Is that the Mustang series amp? Wondering how it sounds for a solid state.

I finally decided to build an electric so I grabbed an Alder body and maple/rosewood neck from Amazon and put Fender 69' customs in it with 250k pot and American Strat parts. I've got a little soldering to do and a general setup, so I'm hoping to have it done by this weekend. The burst looks nice with the black pickguard.

Yeah it's the Mustang I.  I really like it, but keep in mind I don't really knwo shit about guitars.  Here's Justin's review on it, it does it much better justice than I ever will :)

No problem man.  Looking forward to seeing how your project turns out.  Been thinking of doing that myself, kind of why I tore mine apart and put it back together...just to get some experience in doing it.

Amazon has some pretty good kits from the Fender Custom Shop. I grabbed the 69's with the pickguard and hardware and picks and cloth for 155.00. So far I've been able to find a lot of info online for setups and truss rod adjustments, but I'm not sure if I feel like tackling something that crucial.

I've been blogging about it since I got it, coming from the viewpoint of a complete beginner it's one of the best things I've spent money on in a long time.  My only previous experience was Guitar Hero/Rock Band.  Depending on your current skill level you may not like it as much.

Cool Telecaster by the way.  Would love to have one myself.

Here's my Strat I just got done building. I'm still waiting on the vintage tuning machines to come in but thats it. The 69's sound amazing.

I went with a Dean xm because I was told they are good for beginers and it was fairly cheap.  I figure if I like playing guitar and I get good enough I will buy a better guitar

The best sounding guitar (for metal) I have ever played was a cheap no name Flying V that was hot pink when I bought it from a garage sale for $20. I have a Dean Vendetta now with an active EMG that just smokes. It was only $60 from guitar center (used). It was a little out of whack when I bought it, but some adjustments to the bridge and truss rod and now it one the best playing guitars I have ever had. That includes high end Jacksons and Ibanez's. Like was said above, the cost of a guitar is not what really determines if it's good or not. It only determines the materials and craftsmanship in it. Or the biggest jump in price is if it was made in America.

Love Deans! Throw a Dimebucker in the bridge and you won't need another guitar. Just because it's inexpensive doesn't make it bad... you can take a 100.00 guitar and make it sound like a 1000.00 dollar guitar at a quarter of the cost. The Guitarcade is a great tool for beginners ,especially Chordead and Scalerunner.

Went to a few estate sales this weekend and grabbed a nice Yamaha dreadnought acoustic for $20.

I grabbed some Ernie Ball Earthwood Rock/Blues Bronze strings and these things are great. A trussrod adjustment, string change and some cleaning and it looks great! I grabbed a Fishman transducer with vol/tone control (soundhole pickup) and this baby sounds like a $600 Taylor. Now this puppy is Rocksmith ready and sounds awesome with the older era tracks on the game. No give me some Grateful Dead tracks so I can get 18 minute guitar solos on. Id post a pick but mu new computer is being gay at the moment.

I'm very late to the game but I picked up my Rocksmith controller about 5 years ago and never invested the time to learn to play it. The game's on sale at Best Buy so I finally picked it up.

Yeah, I know, it's a Squier. I went for the Mexican Strat mostly for the cost balance (and the fatter, more Strat-ish head stock).

So far I'm digging the game. I was kind of amazed that you can play a song twice in a row, and they change the difficulty based on how you did the first time.

Welcome to the party JP, hope you enjoy the game as much as I am. I've been playing for close to for months now an am still enjoying every minute of it. A bit of advice, don't ignore the mini games. I didn't really pay much attention to them until this month and am regretting it. Scale runner especially. That game alone has increased my abilities by leaps and bounds.
