The higher your weight capacity is, the less of an effect carrying weapons have on your biotic/tech power recharge.

With this game, the more guns you carry, the slower your powers recharge. If you are in the MP section of the demo, you can see the effect when you are picking weapons. It will have a % value in the middle of the screen for power recharge bonus. Put a sniper rifle and a shotgun on, you'll see something like -60%. Put just a pistol and you may see a +150% :)

If you noticed in the demo in the second mission that your power recharge really sucked ass, that's because they have you carrying 4 freaking weapons, with no choice on not carrying some of them. (I'd imagine in the real game, you could choose to give up some of those weapons at any weapon locker).

It's kind of retarded is what it is.  For some reason the weight of your gear affects how fast your powers recharge.  I don't understand the relation between one and the other, it's pretty stupid.  But it is the way it's gonna play so pistol it up.

I can't comment on the validity of power recharge speeds being affected by weaponry held as I am not an expert In Mass effect related technology. smiley

Yeah the new weight system is interesting. It's basically a trade-off. Before, you could only play certain weapons with certain classes. For example, if you played as a Vanguard, you were restricted to the heavy pistol, shotgun, and SMG. Now, you can be a Vanguard and have an assault rifle and sniper rifle if you want.

Basically, it gives you more freedom, but the trade is you get less use out of your powers. If you want to be a guns-only soldier, you can carry all the guns and use your powers once every 5 minutes. indecision

It's definitely an interesting trade-off. I happen to be the type who, if at all possible, would want every weapon type possible so I have something for any situation. But if carrying so many weapons slows down my powers (and god, do I love abusing my powers) it's going to force me to choose one or two weapons. I think I see myself sticking with the assault rifles and pistols.

I like the way they're doing it this time. It was dumb in the first one. THey made you carry everything, but if you weren't trained in the sniper rifle there way no way you could use it. And in 2 they just told you what to use. Now we get to pick. Wanna spam your powers, you gotta pick a lighter weapon. But if you want the big guns, your powers have to take a back seat.

Agree.  It seems so far (from the demo atleast) they are doing a good job at blending the ME1 and ME2.  This is how ME2 should have been in my mind, instead of the combat engine revamp trail it was.

Something worth mentioning is that perk also has a power/force bonus attached.
