I'll be on with one or two friends tonight so it looks like we can fill out a raid nicely.  I'm down for VoG or CE.

I'm up for VoG on hard tonight if you need another. Also will be on between 8:30 and 9pm EST.

I'll be on around 11pm EST so if there are some gaps to fill on the fireteam or if people start tapping out I can jump in.

Two friends and I tried CE last night with just three of us.  It did not go well.  LOL

I find it better to go to the back by the door to do the relic part on Athelon. 1 guy on Harpie duty, and no one has to worry about jumping around and you can use the whole time. The relic holder just walks to the bottom of the steps and a Titan throws up a Weapons of Light sheild off to one of the sides.

Of the handful of times I've been a part of a team that completed VoG, what you described above seems to me to be the best/fastest way to defeat Atheon.

When I think of Crota's end, I am thinking about his butt. Do I need to sing the thong song?

Apparently the bridge is still quite cheesable after patch (you need to send one across now which is pretty easy), and lamps are still quite easily soloable. VoG is so much more difficult than CE.

I really hope House of Wolves has a better raid. There's nothing really wrong with CE, it's fun, but it's inferior to VoG in every way.

Yup, did a practice run last night solo and got over the first bridge with my titan, plan to at least run her and my warlock through for materials tonight.

Practice run with a group on Crota last night, ran the whole thing legit in about 55 minutes.  Got pulled into a roomful of killers this morning, ran the entire raid legit in 30 minutes.  Cheese isn't even necessary any more, at least on normal CE.

As an FYI, looks like they made the Deathsinger start singing as soon as you start to run out (when you're under the room she's in at the beginning of that phase), so no more taking your time killing adds before drawing out the witches, etc.  Now, if only they'd fix the invisible walls I keep hitting with my rocket launcher inside that chamber, maybe I'll be alive when she's dead.

You sure those "invisible walls" aren't thralls setting off the proximity detonation of your missile?

Post update, the six of us spent a couple of hours last evening trying to kill Crota... Didn't happen. We did get through the deathsinger section after a few attempts. I suggested a "Weapons of light" bubble for the sword work against Crota, but we didn't try it. Just couldn't do enough damage or keep him on his knee long enough before one of us would go down.

The first time we defeated Crota (different team) a couple of weeks ago, we used a bubble to make the sword more powerful and to protect the sword guy from boomers. It was over quickly. Also, we only weakened the boomers to a sliver of health, and then killed them only when necessary. Seems that when they are weakened, they don't shoot as aggressively and fresh boomers don't spawn.

We had one 30 and the rest 31s in our team last night. The enemy were 32s. I wonder sometimes what the percentage is among all Destiny players who can/will be able to complete the CE raid?

I've always thought that the raids should be structured like Bungie's Halo games.... Easy, Normal, Heroic and Legendary.  Let everyone experience a complete raid. Separate out/reward  the ninjas by level of difficulty and loot/gear/accessory/achievement levels.

Crota's End isn't hard.  Its much easier and less complicated than the Vault.

"Difficulty" is determined by the individual or team actually doing it.

While that's certainly true, Crota's End was definitely more difficult when we had more limited time in it, with the same group.  Now that we have procedure and order down, its slightly more than a breeze.

I saw a video last night that made it look a lot easier then the way I've alwas been told to do it.

The whole group stays below but 1 guy. This guy goes to the top right room with Ice Breaker and his job is to weaken the boomers and to shoot at Crota and the Oversoul. Once you kill the swordbearer, a hunter grabs it and jumps on a rock and crouches down to go invisible to wait to hit Crota. They say slash slash slam is the best strategy on him. They made it seem pretty easy doing it this way.

That seems like a little bit of overkill in some areas, and underkill in others.

We have one person up top, doing Boomer patrol.  He's got the timing of the Boomers and knight down to a science.  We've got one that goes to grab the chalice and bring it back.  We have the other 5 on the stairs, putting shots into the Swordbearer/thralls.  One of the five grabs the sword and does the damage to Crota directly.

We pile on the swordbearer after we draw it nearer.  Then we put small fire on Crota to drop him, three swats, heavy fire on Crota to drop him back down after turning blue again, three more swats.  Crota moves to top right (that's right from facing Crota), Swordbearer comes out, we weaken but don't kill him.  Crota roars a second time, he goes back to middle.  We kill Swordbearer and drop Crota with small arms fire.  Three swats then heavy arms to drop him again for what's left of the sword.  We all go bottom middle, way back and take the ogres out with weapons of light.  Crota, at this point is top left.  Kill ogres, go right and head back up.  Take Boomers out as you head up, clear out the top area of both kinds of thralls.  Knock out the Swordbearer, put Crota down, and even if you screwed up a little before, or didn't get as many swats on Crota as you thought you'd get, you should get him this sword, because the Enrage timer is starting.

Someone in the forums here mentioned a Weapons of Light buff for the person hitting Crota.  That doesn't do additional damage, but it is nice to have on the rocks to Crota's right/left as an additional buffer zone in case they draw Crota's ire.

That's the way we have always tried it, with no luck. I've only done Crota twice and both times resulted in an Ethernet cable being unplugged after getting annoyed and flustrated.

It can be a tricky fight. I attempted it a couple of times last night and the biggest problem for me might have been the host. I was invis as I saw crota kneeled and hit him exactly when he was kneeling and there was some kind of lag because before I hit him the third time he was already standing and swiping at me.

I would recommend whoever the swordbearer is going to be in the group be the host.

It was a good run though, I ran through the abyss with just one other guy, after testing some of the existing bridge cheese on the second part we got through it in a fireteam of 5 pretty easily, and we did ir yut in our fireteam of 5 with a 29 and a 30 in about 15 minutes. Didn't finish Crota but we only tried 3-4 times before guys had to go.

Sometimes Crota gets a little glitchy.  If we have two glitchy runs in a row, we go back to orbit and come back in.  I've seen him do a crow hop and get up swinging immediately after two sword strikes, which puts a big damper on the fun times.

We've got a really good sword guy, though.  Even our second stringer is pretty damned good, but compared to the first, he's poop (eat shit, Glitch).

All I know is that my character builds are not anywhere near ready to help a fire team complete CE on Hard mode. Need to turn my 31 into a 32!!!! Heck I can't even make it through the pit without getting killed!! Lol.

I like things that are less complicated and easier that's why if the game  is for ages 4 and up I immediately put it back and look for a game for ages 3 and under.

We started doing the raids when it was first available and managed to get past at 29/30/31 in Crota's End.  I think only one of us isn't a 32 now, and its a total breeze, but mostly because we've been doing it together for months now.  Yes, the levels help, but we all know where we need to be, what the timing looks like, and all that stuff.

The raids are easier with knowledge, fully upgraded armor and weapons and being a higher level. But there is also skill involved. A lot of us do not have the same skills as the crew you run with so it doesn't go as smoothly for us.

So, if you're looking to make excuses about not getting either of the raids done, that's a thing too, I suppose.

We've gone through the Vault (or at least most of the way before time constraints got us) with Deep in the party.  I mean, if we can get there with some ragtag folks and Deep, then you can do it with a plan and adequate levels!

Seriously, though.  It isn't that hard.  I can help if you need it. I'm sure some other folks might be inclined to help run some normal Vaults and through Crota's End.
