So, we can't click on your name on the left, that should allow for us to directly add you as a Friend.  You may want to look and see if you can updated to make life easier for us.

Its not the space after N, I think it's the space you listed between TX and 42. Your actual XBox GamerTag appears to be GMAN TX42 .

Guess I'm really really late to the party since I still haven't played VoG and most of the guys I regularly game with have abandoned Destiny :(

So, if anyone is still playing this raid & doesn't mind showing me the ropes - feel free to send a friend request / game invites.  I still have 1 buddy who's also in the same boat (a VoG noob), we're both L28 and usually online around 9PM EST.

I've added a bunch of people for invites to future raids. Feel free to reciprocate.

I've run VoG only once and while it was really fun, you could expect it to take upwards of 4 hours the first time. I realize that was with 2 level 27 people new to the raid though.

This might be a weird week with Christmas, but I'll try to be on Tuesday for any interested in running some strikes and/or raids, although my primary mission early Tuesday will be to get enough marks to score some new armor along with the level to go with it. :)

A couple things I learned from my first VoG

1. Void weapons are good for this, so if you can acquire a good void special/void heavy, do so.  The nastiest adds like some of the yellow bar minotaurs have void shields so you take them down with void damage.

2. Buy ammo synthesis. I recommend ten per weapon type. Heavies can get expensive.

3. Make sure you bring with you two people who are comfortable enough with using the relic. Or be prepared to spend some time on the learning curve. I didn't touch it the first time.

4. Turn your brightness up. It's really fucking dark at times.

5. Pay special attention to the Atheon battle because we spent by far the most time on it, honing our teleportation and not-getting-wiped techniques. If you get teleported, learn how to shoot the Oracles while making for the portal.

6. Follow the lead of a sherpa, whoever volunteers to lead, and remember to thank them afterwards :)

There are plenty of writeups on the subject but here's a guide I found: http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/destiny-vault-of-glass-raid-guide/3/

IMO the hardest add to take down in this game were the yellow-bar praetorian minotaurs. I died more to them than anyone else (aside from Oracles/Atheon/exploding harpies). They teleport and hit hard up close and they damage your plate work. Hit them with void damage and use your specials and heavy damage to take these out before they get too close. I found a heavy void machinegun was quite useful, as was my void shotgun (although praetorians are nasty up close). If you decide to shotgun them up close make sure they are at least less than half bar. Save your golden gun for really bad looking situations with lots of adds.

Also maybe not everyone knows this but to finish off goblins fast, shoot them in the center of their body. Otherwise their bodies go crazy and run after you after you take their heads off. (FWIW, I thought it was really cool that on the first Venus cutscene the Exo Stranger crushed one of the goblins in the stomach, showing you the killing technique.)

My buddy & I (both raid virgins) will be playing tonight if anyone wants to give VoG a go, or even play some strikes.  I did see a few friend requests & will send fireteam / party invites if I see you guys online.
