Do I have enough firepower for VOG?

I saw some posts here from some that you need your legendary weapons fully upgraded and your exotic upgraded somewhat.  I have the ability to upgrade some of the legendaries fully but havent to use the energy/shards on exotics or armor.  I have Suros regime 1/3 of the way, Epitah arc almost fully, Steel oracle Z void almost full upgraded and The comedian arc half way upgraded, Invective fire just started, The swarm fire 2/3s upgraded, The chance handcannon almost fully upgraded. and Grim Citizen more than half upgraded..

Ignore my crucible sucking.  Just wouldnt want to join up with a fireteam and be underguned and be a big liability.

I like grinding patrols for materials, I typically start off the night multitasking doing the eliptical (legs only) machine while running patrols for xp, upgrading weapons and materials for about 30 or 40 minutes each night so the legendaries shouldnt take long to get going.  Exotics take forever to move!!

Thanks for your feedback.

I think being level 28 and having a good group with you helps big time, especially having somone along who knows how to use the relic.

Weapon upgrades make a huge difference in damage out put. The DMG number on the guns is just a scale, a number used in a larger equation for DMG output. The difference between 250 and 300 is actually much more than 50 points. If you are with a team with a 2-3 people with fully upgraded legendaries or exotics you should not have a problem.

The best way to get shards or energy is doing the daily heroic mission on 28. Happy to run the raid with you if you need to put a team together.

I have only been in there once, two weeks ago, with gimped guns.  I have spent the last two weeks getting my guns lvled.  Being lvl 28 was the only thing I had going for me.  It is a major struggle not having leveled guns.  Attack power 300 for purples is a must Imo.  Void damage special or heavy a must.

A stranger rage quit on the last boss because half our team did not have our stuff leveled.....I was embarrassed.

Void damage is good to deal with the Minotaurs/Praetorians since they have void shields. I was running a half-way upgraded Atheon's Epilogue, fully upgraded Ice Breaker and half-way Oracle rocket launcher and did fine - on Normal mode.

I think you'll be fine. I certainly wouldn't let it stop you from going into the Raid if you get a chance.

You dont need to upgrade all of your weapons, but you should at least mostly upgrade your primary of choice (some part of the final damage scantron row should be filled in).  Its not really for the bosses, its for the adds.  I dont think we have ever been wiped by a boss - we have been killed by being overwhelmed by trash mobs or not killing oracles fast enough.  You can do ok without a fully upgraded secondary or heavy, but you must have a mostly upgraded primary.

Also - Fusion Rifles rule all in VOG on bosses.  I wish more people used them.  I am completely speculating here, but I think that if everyone in the raid used Fusion Rifles and had a Titan Weapons of Light buff you can 2 cycle Atheon.  I think it might be possible to one cycle Atheon if everyone was 29 and their Fusion Rifles were fully upgraded and you started damage early enough in the Time's Vengance cycle.   That is a theory, but I think it is true.

I mostly use a fully developed "The Devil You Know" hand cannon, a fully developed Ice Breaker and a fully developed "Unfriendly Giant" void rocket launcher that gives me 7 rockets per loadout (with my Warlock chest armor). Works pretty well, but I got an Atheon's Epilogue (fun to use void primary auto rifle) last night that might replace my hand cannon on raids or void strikes.

I dislike using fusion rifles... I don't have success using them. But, I do have a legendary void fusion in inventory, but...
