This is significant for Engram horders.

Quote:
Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already…

Are they going to also reduce the drop rate for legendary?  If not I may hold on to the game a little bit longer.to grind to 29.  Might get me to the next game I buy.

This makes it into a loot game with more loot. This is good. Now they need to procedural generate it.

Does it? It is a wonderful thing that purple engrams will finally give purple loot, no doubt about that. But there's still no difference between the purple gear I pick up off the floor and the stuff I go buy. Same stats, same light, it would actually hurt me to use new purple stuff I pick up because of how hard ascendant shards are to get. And with Xur coming through every week to just sell you exotic stuff, there's not even a need to find that either.

So, purple gear isn't that hard to get.    When you hit level 3 with any faction, they give you a purple item (I've had weapons so far).  Every level after that, they give you another purple weapon.  The Cryptarch gives you 1-3 blue or purple engrams (or some mix of the two) for every level you hit after 2 as well.  There are plenty of purple things out there for the taking.

sure there is.  You can only use two exotic things at a time.

And different armor-specific abilities.  Hand cannon reload speed for activity X, Auto Rifle reload speed for activity Y.  Titan Helmet for pvp.  Titan Chest for pve, etc.

I still wish it was procedurally generated, but they havent done a bad job.

nope.  All start at the same number (21 for exotics) and max at the same number (30 for exotics).  So, it won't help your light level.  Only difference is perks and armor level.
