I think Gizzie was going to do a small shakedown with the Mazda idea to fill that time slot as i havnt had time to do a post for the series yet, other than that we have nothing planned.
I will leave it in your hands to sort out track etc
Since this is really short notice as I just thought about this yesterday after realizing the Indy 500 is this Sunday, I would like to keep it simple as possible.
I haven't had time to run this yet, so some of this is just a toss up, and we can adjust on feedback here or when the lobby starts.
- Saturday, 2200 GMT
- 50 Laps at Indy Brickyard Speedway ( This should keep the race to just over 1/2 hour)
- Must run one of the Indy Cars
--> No restrictions on tuning or upgrades (not sure if their are upgrades, I'll likely be running a downloaded tune)
-Pit Stops
--> Would like Pit at least 1 pit stop. I haven't got info on whether we can wear tires/fuel within 50 laps if we have damage on, so putting damage on would only be for that purpose, thoughts?
- Driveatars
--> Would like to have the field as full as possible, however doing so would negate our ability to do cautions, thoughs?
It was just Max, Gizzie and I. So we mostly did some shakedown type activities trying to identify if we can find a reasonable way to run the race with players needing to pitstop rather than setting mandatory pitstops.
We tried Drag Tires, but didn't see any degredation in lap times. It basically runs at 100% of optimal lap time for about 7-8 laps, you start to hit 80% wear (you get a damage warning for the tire wear) on the right rear, then left. Then at around 8 laps the tires fail completely (turns into ice road trucking). So with such immediate failure there isn't much to be had for pit strategy.
We calculated tire wear with race tires.... you get about 16-18% tire wear in about 10 laps. So running a 50 lap race ( ~35 mins) you can conceivably run the race with one set of tires without enough of a time penalty to warrant going into the pits for new tires.
Looks like T10 has some Indy 500 lobbies this weekend. I might run one.
Would rather run with our group, but doesn't look like we're hitting critical mass in interest. I'd be game to run this tomorrow at 2PST if there's enough interest.
We also discussed, that since we'll run with damage on, we could have cautions, with caution laps that dictate pit lane closed, then open, then closed formation before restart, with penalties for pitting when pit lane closed (means you must wait for the pack to come around again before rejoining, effectively losing a lap).
Is aero repaired in the pits? If not, then running with damage is a problem. I really wish T10 would change that or have tire wear an option seperate from sim damage.

Was planning for it to be 2pm PST, ufortunately haven't got to critical mass. I'd still like to give it a try. Just need to find a good time and enough interest
I'm very interested in this but I might be the most troublesome guy in the club to accommodate. In terms of time, that is.
ill keep an eye on the thread and see what you all come up with for a time. Hope you. Get it set up. This car is fun to drive at an oval, especially with the TX wheel.
I think this would be fun. Though unfortunately I won't be able to be around on Saturday to make it. I'll have to keep my eyes open to see what pops up.

Might be a good idea Cherry.

Yes all sounds goo Cherry
50 Laps with damage
I would run them stock as you can still tune the parts
I would not run with driveatards as they could take you out and with damage on could end your race
I will sticky this to see if we get some interest.
I'm interested. I should just be getting home before the start. That's 5pm EDT today?
I'll look for you or Max on-line
Might be a bit later if Gizzie is going to run some laps with the Mazda
Thats what i meant
so i take it no track night experiment
Will that fit in after Indy?
Did you guys run this? How was it?

Aero is repaired in the pits on Forza 5
I'm interested. What time?

How about tomorrow at 2PM PDT / 5PM EDT / 10PM BST (if my timezone math is correct)?
Checked withe the boss, I'm in
Sorry - got tied up doing yard work yesterday.
We have to run this sometime...
