Very jealous Oldschool. We are actively seeking a house with a few acres in our price range. It's sad.

But I did get hubby to take me out for dinner last night! Woohoo! It was sooooo nice to get out of this house! :D

Surrounded by water here, lakes all around and the Shannon Eirnside river and canal system, a few years ago myself and a few freinds planned to kayak the entire length of it, but I screwed my back up and so ended that plan :(

yeah, I'm looking for an inexpensive way to get out of the house and get some exercise at the same time and actually enjoy it. This seems like the perfect solution.

I've already kayak'd down in Florida, but that was all canals, lakes, intercoastal waterways and the ocean., all relatively flat as it were. We have a couple really nice rivers locally and it seems a shame not to make use of them.

It's good fun, unfortunately very hard on the back so not for me, but I'd be right there with you in the ideal world, a week or two of wilderness sounds good right now.

In other news our TV is giving up the ghost...So ends our 60" rear projection monster. Think I have sourced a 52" plasma for a decent price and a couple of 50" LED in our price range. Had some cash set aside for a prospective move so that will get put back...But it could have been worse, at least we don't downsize by too much and get Hi Def as a sweetener. I'll just rearrange the room so we sit closer and it will be grand. Could have done without the extra expense but tech shopping is always fun. So Wednesday we head across the border, 'cause tech in the south  costs more and we would have to drive a lot further to get to a decent retailer.

I am so spoiled living here. I can't imagine driving more than ten minutes to buy anything. There's a Best Buy in my neighborhood and all. Grocery stores a block away, my doctors are all within three blocks, hospital across the Main Street, vet three blocks away.

And yet I'd give that luxury up to have a few acres somewhere outside the city limits. I'm soooooo sick of people. It's funny, because from age 10 to 17, we lived on five acres in the country. A good twenty minutes from the nearest grocery store. 45 to the nearest decent restaurant, appliance store, etc. I HATED it. Now I'm looking for five acres at least twenty minutes from the city limits. I'm jealous of my teenage self. That's just weird.

I've been out in the wilderness (15 acres heavily wooded hardwoods n critters) since 2002ish and I honestly don't think I could live in town. Pretty much anything I need to do is within 10 minutes of here, give or take, and there's three towns within 10 - 20 minutes if I really have to.

But there are some things you have to get used to. Deer and turkeys in the front yard, UPS and FEDX being a bit vague on where you live, 5 minute walk down to the road/mailbox, an occasional day when "some" of your vehicles might not make it out to the road due to snow.

The only time I'm really aware I have anything resembling neighbors is when the trees lose their leaves and I can hear the guy on the other side of the road, which is down the hill and then back up.

And last summer we had a momma bear take a dump up the hill on the logging road, I guess it's hers(?) But if I don't have to argue with her, I'm not gonna. So far no poisonous snakes and no skunks, everything else is cake.

For day to day stuff, the local village is just ten mins away, but for anything else 40, and for electrical goods like I say it's either over the border or a couple of hours drive down to Dublin. I like it that way :)

Lol@ Palm Beach 12 hours

i didnt think about ups and FedEx. I do a LOT of shopping online. It's SO much easier when I'm sick (which is most of the time) to order online. We are looking for something with acreage that's completely fenced too...hmm...

Good to hear the latest round of chemo wasn't too bad Kit.

I kinda wish I had a bit more property.  Fortunately the neighbors aren't right on top of me, like some of the newer developments.  Be nice to add a proper shop...but I just don't think I have the room for one.  :(

I have the room, but I'd need to clear and level it. I'm half heartedly looking for a backhoe/bucket combo on the lines of a 310 diesel. Something I can drop trees with, dig out shale and maintain the drive with gravel and such. Maybe dig a basement for a new house? laugh Ideally I want a drive in basement for my toys and a two car attached to the other end for, you know, cars...

And online shopping is more and more a part of our life out here. And as convienent as it is, it's even better when they email you with sales on the stuff you've been looking for. Picked up some video/picture software I've been looking for since the new puter, for $20.00. Bazinga!

Oh boy. I have to go to the lab today. A NEW lab I've never been to before. I'm not even sure I can find the place lol! I have...issues...going to a new lab/doctor/hospital. I get all panic attack-y and freak myself out. I don't know why? I'm going to try to hit it around 1pm. Most labs here are less busy at that time of day. I'm nervous though...

AAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Do you ever feel like as a man you are missing out on the female experience so that maybe you should dress up like a woman strap on a fake vagina and go in for a pelvic exam?

I have a wife and 2 daughters...I am neck deep in the female experience. I may staple some balls on my wife and send her in as a sub for my next prostate exam.

Air to breathe.  Haven't been charged for that yet.  At I haven't figured out how I'm being charged for it.

Alergies to some things in mother nature.  Think those are free too.  Some allergies I pay for.

Ah good to see the usual suspects talking shite while I am being lazy...That Banquet event I was booked for was exausting, 17 hour day, 10 driving, 7 at the event and today I am just feeling drained. Went well though, and the event company are already planning the next bash, but I do wish they were closer.

My boy's back from Ireland.

And all I got was a t-shirt. laugh...from the local Harley dealership, yeah! I collect them from all over everywhere. They have the location on the backside of the graphics. Can't wait to wear that one down at the local watering hole.

Knight, what's this about green bein considered bad luck in Ireland? ( someone at work mentioned it..) heard all about a "Saint Kevin" from my son as well.

Oh, he got engaged while over there and they put a lock with their names on it on an old bridge in Dublin and threw the key in, a tradition of sorts I'm told?

Firstly I have never heard that green was an unlucky colour here.

I've been in the Harley Davidson dealership it's behind a hotel called " The Red Cow " just outside Dublin city, there are some cool bike's there.

The bridge is called the ha'penny bridge or half penny bridge, it is an iron pedestrian bridge that crosses the river Liffey in the centre of Dublin. The name comes from when it first opened in 1815 it cost half a penny to cross it.

There you go Oldschool if you have any more questions about my home town let me know.

Wouldn't a half penny in 1815 be a bit steep?

An I'll be sure to refute the green thing. He said blue was originally considere lucky...but he's a New Yorker so his credibilities a tad shot.
