[GT6] ISR Review - 7/10

ISR released its final review of GT6.  Gangi gave it a 7 out of 10 and he recommended that folks with GT5 either wait for GT7 or buy GT6 when its discounted.  He does accurately point out the game's strengths and weaknesses, but I think he was a tad too hard on the game.

I tried GT5 this weekend with my triples and I like that better than GT6 on a single screen!!!  PD needs to release the update that adds multi-monitor support to GT6.  Until then, I will likely still be spending a fair amount of time doing single player GT5.  blush  Once you go triples, you will never want to go back.

I thought that he was fair up until his numerical score. There is a big whole in his reviews of both GT6 and FM5. Multiplayer.

i feel that his review is actually incomplete without taking this into account.

Darin said in both his Forza 5 and his GT6 reviews that he did not do any multiplayer in either game.  I think that is because he prefers iRacing for multiplayer racing.  That being said, you both are correct.  His reviews are to some extent incomplete without speaking to multiplayer.  Had he addressed that, he probably should have given GT6 the same score as Forza 5.  What GT6 lacks in FFB, physics, graphics and sounds compared to Forza, it makes it up in car and track selection and multiplayer.

For me, ISR is in trouble now that Shawn Cole has left. I always liked Shawn's approach to things. TBH, any show like that needs two perspectives. Darin needs to get a good co-host real soon but he strikes me as someone who is difficult to work with. I was actually saddened by Shawn's departure. I am willing to support Darin because I think that thus far he has done a decent job. I just think that a partner would have told him to consider the MP aspects and communities of each game.

I think GT6 is one of the better racers when looked at as a whole. Every bit as good as FM4 and FM5. The sounds are awful, though.

I watched the documentary "Kaz - Pushing the virtual divide" and really enjoyed it. I recommend it, in fact. There is footage of some cars totally wired up to record sound. I mean, giant mics on the exhaust and everything and I thought to myself ..."WTF, there is no way they did that because every car sounds the same". Like vacuum cleaners. Anyway, check out the film. It's pretty good.

Snappy, Darin can make it work on his own, but he has to change ISR to be more focused on him.  He used to have Shawn, Jessica and Tommy, but they are gone and so the show much change.  I don't think he will ever get the kind of youtube views as he once did when he had Jessica, for obvious reasons, but he still can do a quality show.  His show remains the best sim racing show and he does know what he is talking about, even though I do not always agree with him.

I watched the Kaz documentary.  I enjoyed it.  Then again, I like just about anything GT.

I really can't argue with much of what he said to be honest.....

why he is comparing it to fm5 is beyond me? Different platforms, new tech more power etc. if it came out on 360 the comparison would be fair

personally if it wasn't for multiplayer and you guys to race with the game is pretty badly done, FFb is less than impressive, sounds are worse than rf1 which I didn't think was possible lol premium and standard cars? Why are the standards there? Has anyone ever played a race title with an all black interior? Why do I need 25 mx5 and 30 s2000?

The ai is pretty pitiful and the grind for credits is very painful.

though in all respect all the things that are currently bad can all be fixed with an update.....if they choose too and once the community update comes it will really enhance the multi player aspect

overal I really enjoy the multi player and track selection and believe gt7 will be a top notch title if they address there current flaws.

I only started watching IRS when GT6 and FM5 came out and I thought that Shaun dude was the boss lol.

I liked Shaun.

Surprised he didn't do MP though, its the only reason people buy these games isnt it. If not why not buy Grid etc?

Its been close to two months since I've done anything in GT6 non-MP and when I've been racing MP I've had enough tracks and cars and competition to keep me happy so I'm happy but this news of Sean leaving caught me off guard.

It wasn't until Jessica left that I even realized Shawn and Darin were in the show :)

I'll be honest...I wouldn't race with Darin. I never liked him much. Especially after the incident he had where he thought another driver was "blocking" him. The other driver was a young kid who was driving defensively but not blocking. As a matter of fact, I would race with that other driver any day. I believe he was only 16. Now Shawn, he is a very nice guy and I'd race with him any day.
