Paint shop questions for those playing the game tomorrow.
I have a few questions and would really rather take the word of those in the club vs searching all over for answers from people I don't know.
- Can you paint glass?
- Can you paint ALL wheels?
- Can you paint wheels TRUE white?
- Are Vinyls available in metallic and "special" colors?
- What new colors of significance? (For example it "looks" like chrome and true gold is available.
- Finally have any of the "glitches" been fixed. For instance Porches are a PITA to paint, the older E46 M3 GTR race car is even worse.
I'll take a looks at some of these when I get it. I'm a noob at painting but I started to get into it recently.

That's not true glitches, it's bad skinning/modeling by programmers that were either lazy or pushed for time. I DO hope that they've been more attentive to detail this time around.
Can you paint wheels on race cars without it changing the entire livery?

Painting a F1 Lotus RIGHT NOW
Actually he is going to take a 5-10 min break first
You can paint wheels white. Not sure about changing livery or not.
Looks MUCH easier to paint some of the race cars. The F1 car looks easier than some of the R3 cars in FM4
There are a BUNCH of colors available that are new.
Matte black
LOTS of different camos. including digitized camos
A few chromes
Real gold
wood grain (facepalm)
That weird white with tons of black circle things like on the BMW art cars.
And others.
2nd hand forum info says NO painting of glass and at least a handful of cars still have unpaintable areas like areas on the front bumper.
I think it would be awesome to paint ANYWHERE on the car. Glass painting would help create awesome race liveries, and paiting in grill/fascia openings would allow intercoolers/heat exchangers or other engine compartment details.
Glass cannot be painted.
The wheels that I purchased were paintable, incl. carbon fiber (yes, carbon), gold, chrome, matte, etc.
Wheels can be painted WHITE.
Vinyls are NOT available in metallic or "special" colours.
Chrome, matte, gold, 4 types of carbon, etc. Also 3 types of metals: steel, aluminium, and copper. Each one has 3 styles: polished (reflective), brushed, and one more I cannot remember. Painted mine polished steel and it looks like liquid metal terminator.
I have not gotten into any serious painting yet.
3000 layers per side and top, 1000 layers on front
Paint booth sounds nice. I may as well give up on painting glass. It's never going to happen.
Looks like you can paint the cars original wheels
Can you paint the wheels on a race car without it erasing the livery?
Dont know
First need enough credits to buy one to find out!
Here's a basic run through of the paint shop guys. Boring, but it hits all the bases...

Looks like the wheel colors are much truer than in 4, new "colors" look very interesting, some new vinyls that look pretty cool, gradients especially, and there is a crap load more fonts!
What I haven't seen yet is a vinyl laid over matte or metallic. Do they look normal or retain base paint properties like they do in 4?
Whatched a 40 minute gameplay through the 5 car series at beginning and it looks pretty good to me. Saw the simulated London circuit on Top Gear track, looked fun.
A guy was streaming earlier today and laid vinyls over the real gold color and they looked fine. No more of that distorted color nonsense like in FM4
Great! That's one worry out the door! The wheels I saw looked great too. I also saw the upgrade portion on another video, done same as this and the wheels section there looks much easier as well if you don't already know what you want on the car. Also heard, haven't seen, that you can paint stock rims, finally!
Yes can paint stock wheels. Saw that on one of the streaming videos as well.
