What to expect in GT6
So I thought I'd make a thread for posts/links with info about the game so we can all inform ourselves of all the features etc.
I'll start with this one.
One of the areas that Forza killed GT5 in is the engine sounds. GT5's cars sounded too clinical and digital.
It seems PD may be addressing the issue with GT6. Now if they would just add a hood view.

What are the views in game got GT6? I use hood but will move to cockpit if needed
I think I'll be spending time running different cars up the hill at Goodwood and I'm pleased as punch to see Willow Springs in the track list. When I treated myself to a three day racing school for my 40th B-Day I got to run some laps on the real track.

I'm glad too, I used to race with WSMC many years ago at Willow.
I hope they add in the smaller tracks for willow springs.
The streets of willow is also in GT 6.
Grim, GT6 has bumper, cockpit, and at least one behind the car view. One note about cockpit. Gt6 will have lots of cars but they will not all be of equal quality. In Gt5 they mocked up a generic interior for the non-premium cars. I'd expect something similar for Gt6.
Track, last I'd heard it's just Big Willow. Streets of Willow would've been cool too since you could have several layouts.
There is another veiw. Its in the same position as incar with out the car. Sort of like bumper veiw in forza .
What to expect in GT6? OR what Parcells expects/hopes
1) All cars available to purchase at ANY time - check, confirmed...my biggest gripe with GT5 by a huge margin
2) Ability to drive(practise) the track before the host starts the race - unknown, a current GT5 feature (Parcells favorite feature over Forza by a huge margin) so no reason to expect it to change I dearly hope.
3) Much better GUI system/features - unknown, currently Forza destroys GT5 in game features and ease of use by a huge margin and part of that is the on-line systems (Xbox-live is better than playstation network). But Sony knows it sucks so surely this can be improved considerably. Right now you can only save 3 tunes per car and no way to gift them to anyone (could probably email someone the system created file I guess?? - never tried but even if you can very inconvenient) which is such a nice convenience with Forza. Even when practicing/tuning in GT5 you cannot "pause" the game like you can in Forza, you have to exit race mode and tune in the lobby, overly time consuming Parcells no like. That said you can tune your car in an on-line lobby so go figure.
4) Dynamic brake line ONLY - unknown, currently the brake line in GT5 is dynamic (changes color) but the race line is either entirely on or entirely off. Parcells no like and wants the Forza option of brake line only. Eventually I took the race line off entirely (its so annoying on the straights) but when we do a night race I would love to have the brake line only as without it I become totally uncompetitive. Driving the ring in the night with only your headlights to guide you is a thing of beauty in GT5 but Parcells sukcs at it really bad and...I want my mommy.
5) No forced career grind - unknown, you know what I'm talking about, forced to run the stupid career mode or classic GT series license tests (Stupid) in order to open up certain cars, tracks etc. You didn't have to in GT5 (although there was a huge stink/debate about it when the game first came out, classis bullshit) so no reason to beleive GT6 will force you I dearly hope. Ben there done that, Parcells is not interested in your stupid game challenges thats what you guys are for.
6) No Skid recovery assist - unknown, currently an option in GT5 so no reason to beleive it wont be in GT6. this is an inside joke expectation for those in the know. Parcells isn't overly fond of this silly race assist as it frequently seems to inject inner conflict amongst people who are generally considered at least half rational LOL!
Finally hooked my Fanatec wheel up to the PS3 and I'm slowly starting to dial in the settings on GT5. Any suggestions? The first change I made was to up the rotation to 900.
Looks like Jordan from GTPlanet was able to play an almost release version of GT6. Here's his review.

Cheers Shaggy!
Thanks for sharing that Shaggy! That was a very good article and has me excited for the game even more! The changes to the UI are huge and sorely needed imo. The changes to the physics sound like a real plus also!
I feel like I will be cheating on Forza when I get this game. Like GT is will be a mistress. So, naughty!
more like returning to a former wife... The mistress was used up... For now :p
So true!
.....except I've still got another one on the side (rFactor)..gif)
It is a little different for me, since I have been playing GT5 since it was released in November 2010 and I never strayed. Yes, I did play Forza 3 and Forza 4, but those games never replaced GT5. iRacing, however, has become a mistress for me, but it has not caused me to leave GT5, nor will it keep me from playing GT6. They are really different experiences, at least for me.
You guys getting excited about GT5 and GT6 makes me want to cry..gif)
Snappy....Looking Forward to Your First Racing Series!!

Looking good
Hey guys, I just looked at the GT6 website and I noticed the Fanatec wheels are not listed among the "compatible"/"supported" wheels. Anyone no if we will be able to use our Fanatec wheels? What gives?
Yes, your Fanatec wheel will work just fine. Mine works great with GT5 and it worked with the GT6 demo. Fanatec makes it work because it emulates a Logitech G25 wheel. Fanatec wheels were also not officially "supported" with GT5 and they all worked just fine.
Ah, okay, thanks Lawyer. It looks like we will be racing again soon, buddy. I still have to preorder at Gamestop and also pick up a PS3 but I'll get it done.
Looking forward to it man. Some of the best memories I have in sim racing are doing your series and trying out your tunes in Forza 3 and 4. My hope is that GT6 allows us to rekindle some of those good times.
Another feature of GT6 that hasn't gotten much discussion is Vision Gran Turismo.

Looks like Mercedes AMG released a rear quarter view of their Vision GT concept in their customer magazine.
And here's the full info from Jalopnik with asome additional pics.

Two new piece of information:
First, GT6 will be available for purchase from PSN as a digital download. I am intrigued by this option, since most of the games I play these days on PC and PS3 are digital, but will stick with the three disc versions I have already pre-ordered and paid for from Game Stop.
Second, GT6 will allow us to pay for in-game credits. This is not a surprise, Forza 4 had a somewhat similar system that allowed you to buy cars in-game with tokens. This is also similar to the FTP concept in Real Racing 3 for iPad, which has consumed as much as $100 of my wallet, if not more.
If you don't like it, there is no requirement that you do it.

Getting excited!!!
I expect my first Thursday night spec car to be a Caterham...also getting excited.
The Caterham is A fun car to drive. Cant wait.
