It's on the top of the console near the front edge.

where?

It's right there, man. You have to press your face against the monitor really hard to see it...it's a new high-tech logo material called "The Glint."

Are they going to do anything about the Nat and TCP/UDP issues the xbox has? Many people use cell service for their internet. It would be nice to use my cells WiFi instead of having to go though a computer and router so I have open Nat.

How heavy is the machine compared to the 360 slim? Can the console sit vertically, or just horizontally?

Only horizontally. Reasoning for this is looking at the exhuast vents. The 360 had none on the bottom when stood vertically and none on the bottom when resting flat. It also doesn't have any pads on that right side surface which would lead me to think it could go on its side. All this is taken from the released pictures though.

Also was talk that the box is actually a bit skinnier/shorter than the 360, but about 1.5" longer/wider.

This is from an article on IGN:

Quote:

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One is designed to sit horizontally in an entertainment center rather than standing upright. Speaking to IGN, a Microsoft spokesperson provided the following statement:

“Designed as a premium entertainment system that is aesthetically at home in the living room, the console is intended to sit horizontally. Additionally, the airflow and venting system was optimized for this horizontal orientation.”

It would appear to me that it's  intended to be a stackable piece of the entertainment monstrosity in the living room...

I hope not to disappoint but I need you guys to understand some items.

I dont know anything more than you guys do on what the new xbox live will be, the OS of the console, how a port will interface with your monitor.  I will not be able to show any 3D models or renderings.  I will be able to talk about what its like to work on a project like this and give you guys some insight to the mechanical side of things to a point. So this is not the end all be all of getting all your questions answered. You guys like the majority of the world, my self included, have more questions about how it operates rather than the physical piece of hardware.

yeah I don't care about that stuff either, so I'll ignore it just like I did on 360 with the ESPN app.  I don't see why that makes you want to switch.

I would say go where the people you play with go.  But I'd wait until after E3 at least to make up your mind.

With no backward compatibility there is no reason in my opinion to stay loyal to xbox, so I'm going to do my research and buy the console that suits me best. After E3 I should have a better idea. But  the point of  my question is, why dose Xbox deserve my loyalty?

No reason?  Friends list, gamertag, achievements all carry over.  Backwards compat was never a dealbreaker for me - I can use the same gamertag and account on my x360 and the One.  Just keep your 360.  Problem solved.  I don't understand buying a new system to play old games, unless you're that hard up for the $100 you'll get, or you don't have enough HDMI ports.

I have PS3 and 360, and I'll probably eventually get a PS4 - but xbox is my primary system and it'll stay that way because that's where all my friends are and I enjoy the achievement score.

Also if you care about future Halo (which I'm not sure you do anymore) it'll only be on the One.  As well as Gears of War, if you like that.

Let me get this straight. We're asking questions to the guy that helped design the rear face plate of the box?

I'm not dissing the guy, I work with a corporate group on engineers on a daily basis, great guys, but that amounts to determining what material to use to maximise machining and minimize cost, and then conforming to Microsoft's prints on what will fit the rest of the unit and where to machine the ports they have determined they want.

From that we can get information, maybe on how many and what ports there are, what color the plate will end up and what it's made of.

What else are we supposed to ask about? Internal hardwares iffy at best, again tied to the ports, no spec's are really available ( a guess), softwares out, games are out, the entertainment/cloud computing/kinect/, hell even the Blu Ray and internal dvdr/game editing's off the menu.

I think you're hyping more than everyone's gonna get here.

I see Brian trying to explain what he's privy to, and from the hype, I can understand his attempts.

Pretty much^, but he does work with some of the other engineers from the design team and has physically touched the unit. So we are also hoping he would be able to ask those guys to answer questions as well, as long they are allowed to give out the information.

LOL. I love the vents.. but really I'm responsable for the entire top level assembly. Every single part and sub-assembly going to gether and coming apart.  So I know everything about all the parts.  I just talked about what I could.

I can see that. Or I guess I "want" to see that. It really comes down to wait and see, and that always sucks.

Ask him where the One is on the case, will ya? cool The Shadow "wants" to know...

(special shout out to Jonesy!!! Luv ya bro!!!)

Since it seems that the box was not given a video cable (coaxial) connector was not included in the rear interface. Are there any different plans not annouced yet to phase out the need for a cable box? With the mention that TV channels were fed thru the Xbox I'm wondering if this is going to be handled thru software created in conjunction with different Cable/ Satellite companies? Can you elighten us about how Microsoft plans to address this since their first announcement of the console being an "all in one" entertainment solution...

With the Family XBL package I have wonderful control over my kids accounts. Now that the family package is discontinued. What kind of parental controls will I have? My family account doesn't end until Feb xx/2014. Also what will be the pricing for accounts on Xbox One? I have two boys and to think my fee's will essentially double scares me.

[Edit] The general design of the box inself looks and sounds good to me.

I guess the only question to really ask and get an answer is: How does the texture of the console's shell feel?

Half looks like it's part of a car that's been out in weather for months and the other looks like a product advertisement for Turtle Wax... lol
