'Analog stick drift'

Hello Everyone!  I have a question.   Has anyone bought a new Xbox 360 controller and had it move your actions in-game without you touching it?  I mean, when I'm playing Borderlands 2 my character will move without me touching the controller...I've just returned 2 new controllers to my local Gamestop and I'm truly hoping my 3rd one here will work...so far so good.  Has anyone else had this problem?  The Gamestop associate gave me a little guff upon my second trip...anyway, thanks!  PS: I'm new to 2old2play and forums in general so if this is the wrong place to be asking this, sorry.  And I'm still figuring out what forums are, what the eff a blogs is, and basically learning how to comunicate on computers that doesn't involve e-mail or facebook.  Sad, but true.  Thanks again.

I have a Halo Reach 360 and my Reach controllers do this all the time.  I've gotten used to it and just fix it when it starts drifting.  Not sure what the problem is, I just live with it.

Well, I don't so much "fix it" ...I just compensate for it so my dude stops spinning.  I wish I could fix it for good.

I haven't had this happen with new controllers but I have had this happen after using them for a while.   The pressure switches inside the controller i guess get worn over time and start to malfunction.  The 'fix' is to replace the entire stick part, problem with that is it's soldered to the board inside the controller.  So the only real fix for anyone without leet desoldering skillz is to throw it out and get a new one.  new ones should not come with this problem, i would consider that a defective product.

Accept no sustitute! I have yet to encounter 1 bad Razer product. I know that my Lycosa has drank a few beers. Still works like a champ.

Yet I've heard the opposite.  They break pretty easily.  In any case, they're certainly a good idea.  I've gone through a few controllers.  They drift a little bit and you learn how to not set them off/set them back to neutral or you get a new one.

Razor makes a good controller they just need to pay microsoft the licensing fee to make their controllers wireless.

i've had this problem, along with the toggle forcing me to drop shot when playing a FPS' now and again. I just ignore it or move the toggle when the drift starts. I have a Gamestop controller and that's never had any of these issues.

Me too, but with a reg MS controller.  I bought it as a spare, so I don’t use it very often.  It’s not bad, so I also just deal.

Which is why I bought the spare controller.  I now have 3 (or 4?) that all drop me.  It varies from game to game, rarely with BL, occasionally with CoD, frequently with anything made by Dice.  MoH and CoD3 were painful to play because of it.
