It sure as hell doesn't look that way. Neither side seems too hard pressed to get things done. They talk and then "break" for like a week between. It's so stupid anymore. The best part is all the players who plan on going overseas, which lessens the owners lockout threats that much more. The only ones who are even really going to be hurt by it, are all the people that rely on these events in one way or another to make income, i.e. concessions people and so on. I can't stand Bettman, but the NHLPA is just as bad this time around.
Both sides are just complete asses to me at this point. The players need to realize, they are never going to get paid like the NBA. Plus, the owners are crying about salaries yet offering huge contracts this off season. I'm honestly trying to avoid following it, because it'll probably make me more annoyed than anything else.

Yep. Saturday at midnight was the official end of the NHL for now. Such bullshit. I'm hoping that there's some AHL broadcasts. Any of the Canadien leagues woul dbe cool, but I think I'm too far south for that. There should be some pretty good talent being sent down since they made those waiver exceptions. If the NHL doesn't come back within about a month of when the season should have started, I'm out regardless of when they come back this season. Of course, that's if they come back at all.
I'll watch them on TV, but I haven't been going to games for a few years. Fuck those ticket prices and concessions. I just hope this doesn't last long.

I don't mind the ticket prices, until Owners and Players start crying poor. When does that ever happen though?
I usually try to go to a game here and travel to at least one away game. Had plans for Boston this year, but they can all kiss my ass now.
Well, no hockey in the month of Oct... maybe I can learn to like basketball or hope playoff baseball will hold me 'til Nov and the NHL will get their act together by then.
The fact that these guys can't even meet for more than 2 days without a break gives all the indication I need that this isn't going anywhere quick. It's all just posturing at this point. If either side was really serious, they'd be setting meetings everyday, and letting the press know if one side wasn't willing to show.Crybaby millionaires. I'm still waiting for the first NHL start to get seriously hurt while in another league. That should make things even more interesting.
On a side note I think ESPN is going to stream KHL games. Haven't looked into it, but it's what I heard.
That salary cap adjustment makes no sense to me. I don't even understand how the owners coul dagree to a cap drop of almost 11mil. by 2013-14 when a crap load of teams have huge contracts on the books. Minny's owner must've gone to teh bathroom or something when they threw that in. I don't see that getting by without some kind of amnesty contract clause like Basketball did.

we are on the exact same page...
...so you're ready to trade in that gold and black for orange and black?
well played.
ok, so we're in the same library. probably not even the same books thought...
I was blissfully unaware until now. Damn you Wamam...
oh, go Wings!
isn't today the day?

Right now I hate them both especially Donald Fehr. He used to fuck up baseball, and not he's fucking up hockey.
You want what?
oh no! you're not carving my eye out!
Of course my NY Rangers get Rick Nash and now there's a lockout. It's a conspiracy I say, a conspiracy!
Blows....
But as the Silver lining, if no season happens, then my Ducks can't disappoint me yet again!
That's not true. We just don't have one in their prime or NHL ready.
Well, no hockey in the month of Oct... maybe I can learn to like basketball or hope playoff baseball will hold me 'til Nov and the NHL will get their act together by then.
wishful thinking Squater. i would be really suprised if we see hockey in November.
i hope you're spot on though.

Used to watch IHL years ago up in Michigan. They still around?
no IHL for a few years now. AHL, ECHL, and a few others still going.
watched some KHL on ESPN2 today at lunch
couldn't afford tickets before the strike, can't imagine the prices after
