My wife is more popular than I am.

MY wife as the director of admissions for a small Christian college. On Wednesday, she had a speaking engagement for a local business club. Evidently she has a really clever speech that she gives about leadership and education. In this speech she makes fun of me for being a sci-fi geek. I've never heard the speech, but it was so popular with the crowd at the luncheon, that it made the front page of our newspaper! Needless to say, her boss is very happy for the publicity. I think my wife is awesome and I'm glad that she has a job she loves and excells at.

Invasion of the Mountain Lions!

A mountain lion was killed Monday justa few feet from my son's preschool. Makes you think  a little.
Here's the story. http://www.2old2play.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=20489

I've Created a Monster

Friday night we went to Target to buy the movie, "Over the Hedge." My son said that the TV told him it was on DVD now. Well, the release date actually turns out to be Oct. 17th. That's what I get for listening to a 6 year old. Not wanting to waste a trip to the store, we start looking through the games section and my wife points out "Lego Star Wars" in the clearance rack. I've been thinking of getting this for the boys, and since some of the guys on the site said it was great for kids, I thought it would make a good Christmas gift.

Story Time With Uncle Ted

My office is usually pretty quiet on Fridays. I have a desk in the engineering office, it's right on the shop floor, so right outside my door are loud lathes and mills and forkliftfs and stuff. Most of the operators work 12 hour shifts during the week and they all leave by noon on Friday. Some of the engineers work the same kind of schedule, so it's lound in here most days with all the operators coming in to ask questions of the engineers, the line inspectors coming in to talk to the Quality manager (next desk over from me) and various department heads coming in to talk to me about whatever.

Gimme' some love.

So, I told my wife that I had written an article that was on the home page and this is how she responded.

"Hey Babe,
Once again I started reading the article and about 1/2
way through began to think to myself.  If I understand
the words, why does this make no sense to me.  Have I
lovingly told you that your a geek lately?

 Love you!"

I love my wife!

Another Day, Another $128.37 (before tax)

Well, I don't know if that's exactly what it is per day, but you get the idea. I'm here at work, and it's only 6:30 AM. I'm here an hour and a half early. "Wow JT you must really love your job!" I can hear you say.  Yeah...right. I have one of those jobs that seems to be the catch-all for everything else that no one wants to do, or is incapable of doing correctly. When I started here I told myself, "Just do your job. Don't make waves." Well, I did pretty good for about a year. I just did my daily duties and went home. Eventually though, I couldn't help myself.

conspiracy theory

I think that there's a conspiracy to keep my blog from being read. I post something witty, funny and sometimes insightful, and it stays on the front page for about five minutes and gets 7 reads and then it's off.  Yhe next few after me stay on for an hour.  Conspiracy? It must be.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Has anyone every heard of this condition or been diagnosed with it? Well I have. The past couple of week I’ve been feeling really run down. I had a case of strepp but I got over that in 2 days. I wonder if CFS is rearing it’s ugly head again? Every once in a while when I’m feeling lazy, or don’t want to do something I’ll joke with my wife that I’ve got a bad case of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

A Trip to the Zoo

O.K., not  really but let me explain. I live in a rural area, in a town of about 25k people. I have to drive about 25 miles to get to work. I usually don't mind the drive, it's a good way to unwind after work before I get home. Lately, though, the drive has been getting to me. It could be because of the longer hours at work, or the high price of gas. I don't know. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in daily life that I forget to stop and smell the roses. I can't see the forrest through the trees I guess.  It seems like lately too, things are getting to me more than they should.

The meaning of Blogs.

Well, I guess I'm going to have to weight in on this whole blog controversy. Not that anyone is even going to read this becuse I'll only be on the front page for 5-10 minutes before I get bumped. That's understandable right? I mean we do have over 5000 some-ood members on the site. But it seems like the same few keep popping up on the home page. Now with the addition of stats, counters and leaderboards etc. it seems like there are those who strive for being in the top 25 for the month.
