Training update

So this week is my 10 mile long run week. Also it's the first week of over 21 cumulative miles. Two weeks ago at a 7 mile long run I broke my record for the longest I've ever run. Same with 8 and will continues as such until the marathon itself. It's a great challenge to run so many miles and my left knee is barking a bit about it lately, but I think it's nothing serious right now.

LAN 2010

So there are a few things I learned in Chicago.

1. FUCKING MOSQUITOES!!! (pretty self explanatory) We have tons of mosquitoes here in Okc, but with it being so damned hot here they are nearly nonexistent at this point. I got barraged by these bastards while eating dinner Friday night.

Evening delights!

My new assistant takes great notes!

Also, I am still on the ropes as to whether or not Katy Perry is hot. This is a yes pic, but still .... I dunno.

A breakthrough!

So I was on my way to the river yesterday for a run and realized I had forgotten my watch. I have been running timed intervals as part of my training and this at first was a wee bit disconcerting. "No worries" I told myself. "I'll just run until I feel I can't run any longer". This as it turned out was a brilliant strategy! I ran farther yesterday (by a good bit) than I have so far since I've been back to running and started training for the marathon. It's small progress measured in mile and a half intervals over about an hour, but man oh man did it feel fantastic!

You just never remember

You can truly never remember how good it feels to run in a new pair of Asics, until you are running in a new pair of them. I have been running in a pair of Nike Shox for a while and now have purchased a new pair of shoes for the rest of training. The Nikes are okay, but they make my posture feel a wee bit awkward. Like I'm leaning back while running or something. I have always had a good experience with the Asics, so I switched back. I figure another pair probably two weeks before the marathon. Maybe three. I also decided that I am going to run in this shirt...
