Banished, Rockband 4 and MGS5 aftermath.

Banished is an indie citybuilder that focuses on the logistics of maintaining a self-sustainable community. It's been around for quite a while and I've been playing it off and on, being both fascinated and frustrated by it. Banished can very well be the Dark Souls of citybuilders. Every adjustment that you make ripples through the community at various levels of devastation and maintaining a stable foundation of bannions, the name of the people in Banished, is easy only on paper.

Losing the plot...

John Bain decides to explain the differences between the professional reviews and the user-scores for Mad Max. Apart from the fact that user-scores are absolute rubbish (too much sand, IGN or 10/10 wud mad max again), he embarks on a diatribe that includes movies, tooting his own horn (I'm so good at reviewing it hurts) and generally burying whatever it is he wanted to say under a layer of noise.

Metal Gear Solid 5 marks the day that gamers lost all believability.

MGS5 is the game we're all be waiting for. The game we gamers deserve. The game that justifies owning $500 consoles that for over a year now have been not much more than very expensive set-top Netflix boxes. The game that the PCmasterrace builds their extemely overpriced and overpowered controller-less home-brew consoles for. The game that's above reproach even though it does everything gamers profess to be against, down to blatantly disrespecting the gamer that bought it.

Mad Max Port-report

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79EL0QDoJrs

For those of you doubting the game technically, TB findings are positive and in line with the findings of other players (including I). Mad Max is of a rare quality that we actually should demand from all games. It is possible afterall. After this game, other studios really have no excuses left.

I don't even...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-Vx4_prmvo

What the hell is John Bain on about in this video? Companies are evil, people who pre-order become willing shills, OMGWTF spoilerz... Seriously. John Bain needs to take a chillpill and lay down for a while. His commentary is totally out of proportion to what's actually going on with the upcoming Deus Ex game.

The butthurt of the grandiose.

It's always fun to see youtubers behave as if they have the one and true word on things, as if they're an age-old and proven institution that can claim sole knowledge. Secly looking at them shows something else though, something less enlightened. When the skin-deep is peeled away what's left are a group of amateurs ranging from being competent to being hacks trying hard to be what they profess not to be; the much hated by youtubers 'game-journalists'.
