#5 delayed release; Start thinking about issue #6

Readers,

The magazine designers are very busy with real life this month, as am I.  So I'm going to plan for a release around August 8th to add a little time (and less stress) to a team working for free. Hopefully this will be a concrete date, but if we run into trouble I will push it back a bit more. In parallel, I'll be working the content ideas and asking for requests for issue #6.

Issue #6

Clerks 2: My Review

So a few of us (sgreth, and dsmooth from the site) went out to the movies for lunch (totally heterosexual). We work like two minutes from a large theatre so we got tickets yesterday (just incase it was a big packed rush :) ) and went today to see Clerks 2.

So, how was it?

Shermanator!

I've been following this story for awhile, since DSmooth brought it up (through his circle of RL friends), this poor girl has "friends in high places" (by high places I mean "the Internet").  The digg article is here:

You should read the news story in NY, its good/scary.

Anyway, happy Friday.

Tschüss!

Not sure how long it was down for, but apparently are bandwidth was completely utilized (well, it was running on TANKS site so now he's offline).

I'm assuming the bandwidth plugger was us, unless tank runs some cool pr0n site I don't know about. Oh well, sorry TANKzter. Your site is down.  Pay up !

Contest Results Update

This is going to take a bit of work, so be patient. ;; I have a group of folks reading the documents, but there are 24 submissions at two pages a pieces and each individual must read each of them so that they can rank them against one another. ;; This takes time, so be patient. ;; Take into consideration that our reviewers are doing it for free, when theyre not working (presumably) so I dont want to hassle them for fast results. ;; Well get it done though.

In light of recent forum events...

Ive noticed a pattern in forum posts/flames/discussions.  When a topic gets heated everyone finds an opinion and everyone involved must post. Those that respond to them require a retort.  That is natural, thats how debating works.

But, the pattern that occurs over and over is the same: After the first page of responses to a given post - no matter how heated - will tell the whole story. Pages 2 through 55 are all rehashes of the same posts in different words by different members.

Im just writing this blog

To test some of the features of the new 2old2play toolbar that DSmooth is working on.  I want to see it "in action" and you guys have been very quiet in the bloggosphere today.  Whats wrong? Is it a really busy day or are you all stuck in chat wasting the hours away?

I know if it was xssmoke it is because hes stuck in world of warcraft.

Speaking of that.

Have fun.

Back to the review scoring system

So it seems a bit of you are totally with the "no scores, let them read" scheme (if your confused, read the blog below).  Others highly disagree with this method, stating that it does indeed help (esp. if you really have no interest in the game).

So, perhaps we can adjust the voting scheme to fall a bit into the compromise arena.  So rather then having something like:

Graphics: 5/10
Sound:     4/10
Game Play: 10/10
Replay Value: 8/10

Game Review "score" - remove them?

Ok, Im looking for some feedback on this, maybe Ill post it in the forum if I dont get enough here.  Drost did a review last month on UNO, and he didnt give me a rating for how cool the game was.  He had a valid point on "why" he didnt:

People dont always read the article if there is a number rating to tell them to buy or not.
