Extra sad for a Monday...While I was out on vacation 2 weeks ago, the President of the company gave a little goodbye speech that I didn't get to hear. (We're on to the 3rd CEO since I came to the company a year and a half ago). Between that and another meeting with the exec in my group, it seems that the rumors of our office moving East are close enough for me to call them confirmed. I hate that I didn't get to hear the information for myself.


It probably will be a year or two out...Do I start looking now? Or do I wait for the supposed "nice goodbye package" that the organization is supposedly known to provide everytime they relocate or collapse one of their acquisitions. Sad - I actually like my job. And yes - a year or two is far away, but that will be the most un-fun and non-productive year of any employee's life if they chose to wait it out. Sucky. A lot to think about.


On to something lighter..Too much HGTV is dangerous...I contracted a "redecorating bug" over the weekend. My bedroom that I previously liked become ugly and boring. Funny how that happens! I decided that I need something more on the walls and that I will need to paint sometime. I haven't got a clue on color so I went to Como Park and Conservatory to get some pictures and possibly inspiration for the walls...I didn't get anything to inspire my redecorating, but I got a few pictures that I like. There's a butterfly garden at the park that is absolutely amazing...They're everywhere. Makes me want a macro lens - but they're just too expensive to buy on a whim (especially now that I'm going to be tempted to horde my money and do my part to contribute to the recession - or "lack of growth"...semantics, whatever). Anyway - here are my captures of the weekend. I really need to get out and shoot more.

Hate to hear about the job thing. The good news is it is far enough away that you can take your time and find the right opportunity if you don't decide to wait it out.

Look at the bright side, if they move to the NY area, you can always come live in Jersey.\r \r Speaking of bosses, I've been here for 6 years and am on my 7th higher level supervisor.

thats a bummer about your job. im sorry to hear about it. i guess it couldnt hurt to look for a new job. with the economy the way it is your better to have something lined up then wait on a severance package that may never come. either way, good luck.

on HGTV : I hear you, i want to renovate our kitchen after watching a week of HGTV. Looks easy on TV! :)\r \r on Jobs : Do yo uhave any idea what the sweet exit package is? Look at it this way, #1 if you get a huge payout package, uncle same is going ot tax it to death and you'll loose around 50% of it depending on your pay scale. #2 : With what's left, will that cover you for months of being unemployeed and you still make a 'profit' in the end (still have some of the bonus left over by the time you find new work). If #2 is no, you should probably start looking in the new year. Jobs are really hard to come by right now and may start to be more plentiful next year. Two years out one hopes the economy will hae recovered to normal but who knows really. But yo've basically been given 2 years notice, if it were me, i'd be using that to my advantage. Then you can find a job you really want rather than settling for whoever is willing to hire you.\r \r

That's a shame about the job. When you get one that really fits, it is harder to lose it. There are a couple of reasons to stick it out. One, employee loyalty can SOMETIMES result in contacts with new companies and people. People who leave early can sometimes get you in where they have landed. If the package is big enough (3-6 months) and your skill set is desirable enough, you can possibly make a \"profit\". If you can, get the package paid out over time with tax withholding, you will usually have lower tax consequences.\r \r Really nice pics! You do quality work with a camera!

my 2 cents on the job thing. Wait it out and go for the package.\r \r Job market should/could/will be better, plus with a package and waiting for the market to get better, means a nice fat extra bonus and possible double dip of income.

really Tara DIY project.. WHY!!! NO its never that gratifying trust me it is the first day than it gets old,, dirty... and a pain in the ass.. you know whats better paying someone a shit load of money and than come home and its magically done!!

@corbin - a Nikon D90\r \r @nae - I've enjoyed every DIY project I've taken on in the house. Mostly before planning it, a little bit during, and especially when it's done and I get to enjoy the results. You've got me pegged wrong biatch.
