Applying for jobs online sux

Holy crap.  Applying online for jobs is not fun at all.  I have applied for three different jobs today, and for each of them, the process took close to an hour.


For starters, every one of these site has you upload your resume so that it can auto-populate a bunch of stuff for you.  The problem is that it butchers and mangles everything beyond recognition.  You damn near need to re-type everything.


And the questions you have to answer -- they expect you to remember your starting and ending salary of every job you've ever had.  They want to know what my GPA was in high school and college.  I don't remember this stuff.  Isn't it enough that I haven't been convicted of any felonies?  Can't we just move on?


And all this work really is for naught, as I know all my info is just going off into an "online applicant abyss" where it will never be seen by anyone...

CleMTK! CleMTK!\r \r Good luck boss. On the plus side, if it takes you an extra hour to fill out an application for a job that pays what you are worth, seems like it is worth the time.

I know your pain! This summer I had to deal with this....here's a tip....go ahead and set up a copy of your resume in Wordpad with NO formatting or anything.\r \r and it will be seen. I got my new job on Monster.com and my old one as well. If it is a local company, I even took the effort to call them or write them after I submitted my resume online to let them know I sent it. Lots of times it is easier to return a phone call than to wade through 100's of applicants.\r
