Wen't with the bf and purchased one of these last night. Pretty sweet I must say, but I'm holding out for the one that comes with the Kinect. It is pretty neat and lightweight, the only real diff. I see is a vent on top. I was told it had an overheat sensor so when it got to hot it would warn you and if you ignored it it would shut off automaticly. It's also VERY quiet. Makes a cute little beep noise when you mess with the disk tray. Thats all I can say about it for now. Just had to throw my 2 cents in.

they don't get hot - the air they expel is though, so you need to keep them in a large space with lots of headroom.

I have two of the new Slims . Primary reason i bought them was the lower power consumption and quietness. Yes they do run hot but the system's designed properly now unlike the old models that crammed the GPU under the DVD drive so it couldn't cool itself. There's nothing really to worry about other than not putting anything on top of it and having ample space for it to vent into. Anyway I liked the new design enough to buy two of them. If you wait for the Kinect bundle, you can save 50 bucks over buying both individually. I'm not getting kinect so i didn't wait. There's also a halo reach limited edition one coming out that is silver and plays halo sounds instead of the generic beeps and boops.

I know I want the halo one but i hate halo lol I just want the silver system lol. Save 50 bucks you say? hmmmm....

Cool. I've been toying with the idea of getting a new model - maybe when the Kinect bundle comes out. I'm so on the fence about Kinect. Sounds like you're in. Is the 4GB a regular HDD, or is it flash memory?

I bought one of these on release day, and I can say I'm proud of my purchase. It's super quiet, and the bells from the sensors are just awesome! The only thing that was disappointed with was that Bungie made a Halo edition about 3 weeks after I bought my slim.

At the risk of sounding stupid, i'd have to say I have no idea. I'm not a hardcore gamer and I don't know all the specs of most anything having to do with gaming. LOL BUT! even though I just purchased a new Elite and had no problems with the one I traded in for it, I'm still going to get my hands on the Kinect bundle for sure. I am most deff. IN!

Awww nunder.. ha ha wondernoob.. I pray that the Kinect lives up to its expectation. I fear its not going to live up to it simply because TV can be edited to look sweeter that it truly is. I hope I am wrong! We are advancing so much I wonder just how long it will be before its all 3D and controlled by our minds.

i heard they get SUPER SCARY hot, even though they supposedly warn you and shut themselves off...you'll have to post and let us know if it's true! :)

Well common sense tells most that if you sit and play none stop for several hours a day that your system is going to go kaput a lot sooner thank it should. I hope thats not true though. We shall see!
