Against my better judgement I picked up WWE 12 yesterday. Its not as bad as I feared, but the franchise just isn't getting any better. Lots of bugs, lots of freezing, and the worst online servers this side of EA. Don't even get me started on the horrible career mode. Be that as it may, I have a tradition that results in me at least renting each WWE game every year.

I had a friend named Vic, once. Great guy, we were like brothers. He was a big guy too, and we were both into wrestling. We'd always joke about getting into wrestling and being a tag team. We had it all planned out, we were going to be called Crime & Punishment. Sadly Vic passed away back in late 2004 (right about this time of year) and I really miss the guy. But every year in the WWE games I create our tag team and run roughshod on the rest of the WWE. This year's version has some pretty good customization options and I was able to really nail Vic's appearance this time out. It also has 2 of our favorite tag teams ever, Demolition and the Road Warriors. I don't have the RWs unlocked yet but I did manage to get Demolition. And of course since Crime & Punishment are the big dogs on the tag team scene, Demolition immediately wanted a piece of us. I took a video of the entrances on my phone and uploaded it. If Vic were around today we'd probably be playing this online right now. Well, except for the fact that THQ's shit servers keep going down. But you get the point.

That actually looks awesome. It's like the ambience they had going during the first Wrestlemanias.

Yeah, I channeled my inner redneck and bought this the other day - I just have a weakness for wrestling games - it's due to my obsession with the WWF when I was a kid, Wrestlemania 1-5 were my glory years. Then there was Pro Wrestling for the NES. I still remember almost getting beat up by a burnout at school who refused to believe that I could be the Great Puma without an Advantage joystick. Of course, when I build wrestlers in the games now, they all have huge tits.

Well...that is one way to do it lol. Wrestling hasn't been good from a story standpoint since probably 99, at least imo. There's been some talent obviously, but to me the attraction to whether or not I buy these games is in the Legends additions. The current wrestlers (the new guys) pretty much suck and are indistinguishable from one another, so if they load up on the classic guys then chances are I'll be sucked in. I haven't even been to a live event in 10 years, at least. I think the last show I went to was a Smackdown taping. I went to WM 13 out here in Chicago, got to see the Bret Hart/SCSA "I Quit" match. Epic.

Actually the last show I went to was a Smackdown, and Chris Jericho and Chyna were co-Intercontinental champions. THAT is how long its been lol.

I got that beat - I took my girlfriend's kid to Raw a couple years ago for his high school graduation present. I was pulling for the heels mostly. I'm with you about playing with the older guys. I was hyped for All-Stars, but then it just didn't do it for me. WWE 12 changes up the Road to Wrestlemania mode a bit, and I didn't like having to deal with John Cena and that group. The Universe mode seems okay, but so far, my wrestler is only getting the odd Superstars appearance. I wish there was a "sim to next appearance" function.
