Portland Oregon gets snow about every other year. Lucky for us that year is this year. We got about two inches of snow on sunday, and by sunday afternoon school was already canceled for the following day. School was cancled today too. We are supposed to get an even bigger storm tomorrow (four inches instead of two!) So I bet that my kids dont go to school again until after Christmas break is done.
All you midwesterners are laughing at us right now. The entire city shuts down for two inches of snow. But this video from last year is a good example of what happens in portland when it snows.

We always get rain before snow. Which means ice. And Ice undersnow is never good. Then, like in the case of this week, it stays cold, but we dont get anymore snow. So the snow melts a little because of the sun, but freezes because its freaking cold out. So now we have ice, snow, ice. Plus the city isnt set up for snow removal. Hardly anything gets plowed, and only over passes and bridges get the de- icer.
Here is another video from the same time last year talking about the cars abandond on the freeway. Yup, you heard me. Cars abandond on the freeway because of two inches of snow. Crazy huh.

and just because I can. Here are a few shots of my kids enjoying the snow.
