Halloween

Halloween was a huge hit this year. Its fun to have kids old enough to care now. Even if the incessant asking about it for the last two weeks was driving me batty. Kate (4 year old) had a party at her Pre School Tuesday AM. They did the typical party and trick or treated around the attached church with the employees that are full time.
Then Tuesday night we went trunk or treating with my BFF Teri's ward. The kids had a BLAST. We found out that Dylan (2 year old) LOVE-LOVE-LOVES the cake walk. Screw the actual cupcakes, walking in circles to music is the bee's knees. They had a fun house set up that Shakes had to drag the kids out of kicking and screaming. Then for the actual trunk or treat we set the Dad's up at the vans with the candy while Teri lead them and I corralled the stragglers to keep up. It worked out perfect.
Kate had a major candy/tired/still semi sick induced meltdown Tuesday night after we got home. Probably the worst she has had in a year. She was on the verge of puking and past the point of being able to calm herself down. She earned herself a trip into the shower fully clothed. I figured it was better then knocking her unconscious. The shower did the trick and got her to breath again.
Wednesday brought a Halloween party for Andrew (6 year old) at School. They weren't allowed to wear their costumes, but he had fun anyway. Well, I will at least assume so. I wasn't able to go because of other children and transportation issues. I got a nice guilt trip from Andrew for not being there. I actually did feel bad. Im just not very good at the balancing of meeting the needs of the younger children, the pregnancy, and the Volunteer things I wish I could do. Im also lacking the social hook up in my current ward at Church to feel comfortable calling people to watch my kids unless there is no other alternative. (thats a whole other post though)
Last night Grandma and Aunt Erin came over to enjoy in the Halloween goodness. They got all the cute pictures their hearts could desire. Grandma came trick or treating with us at a local housing development. The kind where they squeeze 200 houses where only 30 should be and then charge a bunch for them. It was perfect. Front doors 20 feet apart, well lit, and a ton of kids running around. We walked down one street and back up the other side. It took a half an hour and the kids buckets were 3/4 of the way full. One of the houses was pitch black inside, and the after the kids knocked the door slowly opened and a fully made up adult slowly peaked around the corner. SCARED THE CRAP out of Kate and Dylan. They ran away full speed screaming. It was awesome. The rest of the night they would let Andrew walk up to the door first and hang back until they saw who answered the door, then they would rush the door for their candy. Probably the highlight of my night, then again, We are the parents that takes their kid down the scary aisle at target just to watch Dylan freak out when he sees the stuff for sale. It cant be that bad, he begs to go see the "scarys" every time we go to target.
We made it home and to bed with out any more melt downs. Today has been a struggle to keep them from begging for candy, but nothing I cant handle with my evil parenting ways. BWAHAHAHA.
We now have more candy then the kids will be able to eat before Christmas.
We have a ton of pictures up, so please go take a look and tell me how cute my kids are. Apparently I desperately need the pat on the head ;) (Zikan, your stalker radar must be going into overdrive)
