Shared on Mon, 06/30/2008 - 15:50This past Saturday we had Flowers For Megan Day. There were a TON of people here. The cul-de-sac was FULL of cars and it was absolutely overwhelming, looking at everyone that came out. I have some pictures that I will be posting in just a little bit that many people took and they are amazing! My mom called Saturday evening to check on Megan and said that as they were driving away Saturday, she almost started crying thinking of all the people that came out to help and support Megan. For about two weeks now we would receive deliveries and mail almost everyday from people who lived out of state. We received countless emails from people saying that since they loved so far away they would plant a garden for Megan in their yard (BTW if you are/have planted a garden in your yard for Megan, please send us pictures, Megan would LOVE to see them). And then watching everyone here on Saturday, working together, laughing, talking, sharing, it was just way to hard to describe how it made us feel. I received an email on Friday called When You Thought I Wasn't Looking. You may have seen it before but basically it talks about how your child sees you doing things even when you think they are not looking. It was such a sweet and positive email. Anyways, I started thinking Saturday, perhaps someone was looking out their window wondering what in the world was going on at our house. Did they know that all these people came together for a little girl? Did they know that people that didn't even know each other were pulling together to be servants and be a witness? Did we know that anyone was looking at us? What an amazing opportunity. I tell you what, God was all over it and you could tell! What a wonderful time. Looking back at the pictures you can't help but get teary eyed seeing everything that went on. What was so incredibly cool was watching all the children get right in there and help. I promise you guys, I just can't put into words how awesome it was. Later that night when everything had cooled off a little, I took Megan out there to look at her flowers. She was so tired so she didn't get to look at them for too long but she raised her head up off my shoulder and said "Mommy, my pretty flowers. So pretty mommy, Night Night Flowers, I love you!" You guys have no idea what a difference you have made in this little girls life and in ours. I went back out late that night and hand watered each and every flower that had been planted. I cried as I looked at them because I remembered as I watered each one of them who planted it or who brought it or what was going on when it was being planted. We will never be able to fully express how much it meant to us. Megan tells her flowers she loves them every time she sees them.

Unfortunately, Megan was asleep at this point, for her afternoon nap. She had gotten a little uupset and pitched a fit which ended up giving her a fever and making her throw up. She was fine after some time in bed. But thanks goes out to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for allowing everyone to get together for this awesome occasion. He has created a beautiful world and we can share and admire that beauty in our own front yard now. 34 people gave up their Saturday morning to help out and we were all blessed by it.
