Shared on Tue, 07/17/2007 - 08:42It appears Megan's tummy issues just aren't going away like we had hoped. Megan had a rough weekend. Some times were ok and some were not. She was pretty sensitive, which is what happens when she is not feeling well. Saturday night we had to take her off her feeds because she was holding her tummy and crying so much. Once we took her off she calmed down and was able to sleep. Sunday the same thing happened on and off all day. Last time this happened they had to take away her time off and put her back on 24 hour drip. She only gets 4 hours off now so I really hope they do not take away what little time she has. She has been very cranky and just flat out tired today. She has been walking hunched over a lot also. They are still not trying her back on her mito medicine until they can kind of get her straightened out a bit. She tries to rest but has kind of cried on and off and continues to hold her belly. She has tried to throw up a couple of times today but nothing has come out yet. I hope this is not a pre-warning to what usually happens. Please pray for some comfort for her.
Believe it or not we actually got my dad's apartment all cleaned out. A big HUGE thanks to Debbie, Charlie, Sam, Mitchell, and Brian for helping Jim, my brother and myself on Saturday. You have no idea how much that meant to us! You know, cleaning out our dad's apartment was pretty hard for my brother and I. We would find old papers of speeches that he had written and it would remind us of how he used to be. I remember how alert and coherent he was. We packed up so many things that we remembered as a child. He still had this guitar that he played when we were very young. And he kept these boots that we used to try on when we were kids. I have a picture of me wearing them and they covered my whole leg. My brother even said it was weird packing up things because you almost felt like he was gone. We also found a 7 page paper that he wrote to us a little while back (before his Alzheimer's had set in)about his final wishes. That was very hard to read.
My brother and I were talking about something that was pretty neat. Do you ever pray about something to God and then you don't think that He has answered your prayer. What if God gave you the opportunity and sometimes you don't see it because you were expecting Him to answer it in a different way? I have been praying for a while that my dad would turn his life over to Christ. I wondered what was taking so long. I prayed Lord, might I be a witness to my dad. Just give me the opportunity. I didn't know what to do because my schedule was so hectic and I knew that it wouldn't be as easy as just sitting down with my dad and having a simple conversation. I said Lord, if I could just spend time with my dad somehow and get him to come to church with us and be a godly influence, if it was His will. Well, my dad now lives with us. I have had a few conversations with him about how God has worked in our lives and we all know that we wouldn't have made it without Him. He is coming to church with us now and he keeps commenting on how nice everyone is to him. Jim is also taking him tonight to eat BBQ with the guys in our Sunday School class. Yes, I know my husband rocks! :) When my parents came up to watch the boys last week while Megan had her surgery, my step-dad (I can't stand that word but I didn't want to confuse you, he is my dad!) took my dad out to walk at the mall and to eat lunch. Yes, that is way above and beyond the call of duty but then again, that is my dad, he has a heart of gold! Anyways, my dad is seeing all of this going on and it is making him curious about why everyone is so nice and always willing to help and just everything! I think wheels are starting to turn in his head. I just don't believe this is coincidence, you know? I didn't know my opportunity would be in our own home. That is where it should start though, you know? Interesting, isn't it? God Bless and pray on!
This was a gift from some of the ladies here at work. They saw her picture on her carepage of her riding the Dora truck and went out and got her one from Toys R Us. Needless to say, she loves it and is actually watching Dora while she is sitting on her truck, in this particular picture. :)
