My thoughts on the Halo 3 commercial thingy

Folks, it was done by a movie company. Quote from Bungie's site: "The CG was created by Hollywood FX house, Digital Domain, using assets supplied by Bungie." A little background on Digital Domain. www.digitaldomain.com They have been involved in a ton of movies and commercials. Movies like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Stealth and more recently Flags of Our Fathers. They have also done some cool commercials. They did Burger King, Motorola and Lexus to name a few. So, having said that, they are good at eye candy. Which is pretty much all we saw. The commercial did nothing for me. It looked like a preview for a new cartoon on the Cartoon Network, to run during Adult Swim. Only thing I got from the commercial was that it showed the shield. Nothing else. Oh, and it was a teaser, not a trailer. Trailers usually run in 2-3 minute spans. With the shortness of the actual ad, hence the teaser label. When they show even an ounce of game play, THAT'S when it will get interesting. Until then, stop teasing us with stupid Hollywood eye candy, because that is all that was. In the short amount of time that was on, only one new thing appeared, a shield. No story, that could be understood, and no game footage. Had it been an actual trailer, maybe one could piece together some of the storyline. Hell, they could have put MC on the beach, playing volleyball, and I think most people would have liked it. I would rather not see anything until the game comes out, rather than Hollywood-style excerpts of nothing. Give me content. Give me substance. Give me something more than what I saw.

Being from Tennessee I miss good BBQ. Here in Jersey it all sucks. I do travel to the nearest Smokey Bones Grill and I love their stuff. They have the best pork ribs ever. They won the "Pig and Jig" in Augusta, GA last year. Love that Carolina vinegar based sauce too.

The big discussion in our clan forum is whether the kids at the beginning are Master Chief and his friend before getting drafted or maybe shortly afterward. The use of weapon points on the suits seems to indicate that you MIGHT be able to see what opponents are carrying and thus be able to determine the best offense or defense. In addition, the pistol has been talked about. So eye candy it was, but maybe not entirely useless.

First, don't say "down here in Carolina" - it's North Carolina. Second, Lexington BBQ is l4m3. Eastern style (vinegar-pepper based) is the best. Head down the road to Bubba's at I-77 exit 16B or, closer, my favorite Lancaster's in Mooresville, NC. The original is east of I-77 at exit 36, but there's a decent one in a convenience store (yes, that sounds lame but it's still good food) about 1/2 mile west of exit 36. Try it, you'll like it.

Imagine how "bad ass" Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings would have been if they just showed game footage of some random game... no actual movie footage. How would we react to that? "There is no actual movie footage, but the game artwork and rendering was done by our CG artists and animators...so it represents the movie very well." I don't think that would do it. People want to see the actual thing - not just some guy talking over some random strip of animation.

Yeah Wally, I see it every time I go to Target. The fact that it is in a gas station has kinda scared me away. There was another good place on HWY 70 towards Salisbury, closed down though, cant remember the name. Mike

I'd love to see the MC playing volleyball with some of those chicks from Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball. ;)
