Well, everything was going well yesterday 7/4/06 until about 5:30 or so. My parents were at my house and we were enjoying some KFC and their company. That is when we get a phone call from my Aunt Becky (Dads sister) letting us know that my Unlce Terry, a veteran of the Vietnam War, a good man, and a wonderful uncle had gone home to e with the Lord at the ypung age of 58. He had cancer, but I just cant remeber where it started. All tests concluded it was a result of the Agent Orange that was sprayed back during the war in Vietnam. The fortunate thing is that the U.S. military took care of ALL of his medical bills so his familywas not left with that burden. I am truly saddend by this, seeing as how we all thought he was feeling much better from the cancer that was eating him alive. We knew he was to be going home soon, just not now.

Edit:

After much research I have found out a lot about my uncle, that I did not know about his service to his country:

Terry Lee Cochran

Served in the Army

Company B, 1st Battalion, 25th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infanttry Division (Wolfhounds) www.kolchak.org
1968-1969 Vietnam War

Medals and Achievments Earned:

2 Purple Hearts (Shot in the foot and the back)
Bronze Star
National Defense Service Medal
Vietnam Service Medal
Army Commendation Medal
Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm
2 Overseas Bars
Combat Infantryman Badge

Marksman (M-16)
Sharpshooter (M-14)
1st Class Gunner (M-60)

He served his country well and did not brag a bit about it. He was a very shy individual and wasnt very open about his service in Vietnam. My other uncle told me he had some horrific experiences while in the jungle and did not like to talk about it. Therefore, I never pressed the issue. He was a good man and a faithful servant of our God Almighty. Good-bye and Gods Speed Uncle Terry. I will miss you.

Even though I am a civilian, I salute you nonetheless.
