allowing to share these thoughts with you over the last month. I
started reading 1 Timothy and came across something that I take for
granted every day and don't pray enough for.
God's infinite mercy. Do you realize that you are saved through the
grace and mercy of God, in the blood of His son Jesus Christ?
That's awesome. His infinite mercy allows you to get to work every day
and to make it home every night.
That goes a long way with me since I trek to work on the freeway
everyday. Through His mercy, and lots of prayer for protection, I
have been able to get home every night. Trust me, you want, and need,
His mercy. The passage I read is this, and it spoke so loudly to me:
1 Timothy 1:12-17
12I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he
considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. 13Even though I
was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown
mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14The grace of our
Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love
that are in Christ Jesus.
15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ
Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.
16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst
of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an
example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor
and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
This passage is me! I AM the worst of all. But He loved me so much, He
showed enough mercy that He used a family friend on Aug 22, 2002 and
opened my eyes and saved me from an eternity separated from Him.
Mercy is everywhere in the Bible. Matthew 5:7 (one of the beatitudes)
says "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy" I could
go on and on. According to the website, the word 'mercy' appears in
the Bible 126 times (NIV). That just goes to show how much God loves
us and cares for us. We definitely don't deserve it, but we need it
NOW more than ever, and he will share it with us as long as we ask.
Thank you Jesus for loving us so much and showing us so much mercy.
God bless you all, and don't forget to smile.
As for me and my house, we will worship the Lord
