Conviction
I have struggled recently. Realizing some things, particularly sins, that are going on in my life. The spiritual war that is taking place, that I can not see. Sins I have committed that I seem to do over and over again and can't get rid of. The guilt and embarrassment that comes with these sins. And wondering "Will God forgive me this time?" That feeling you get after you've done something wrong, knowing before you did it that is was wrong, and feel as if you can't stop. No matter how hard you try to make it right on your own, you just continue to sink deeper and deeper, like being in quicksand. So, you don't pray about it or read your Bible, and then the sin begins to consume you, inward and outwardly. Eating at you like a disease, like a cancer. At the end of YOUR rope, God gets a hold of you and puts you on HIS rope. He taps you on the shoulder and says "Come to me." What is happening is that we are being convicted by the Holy Spirit. Man, what a refreshing voice of hope and love. He tells you to read His word and talk to Him about it. Tell Him what's going on and confess your sins to Him. He tells you to get in the Word and shows you how to resist the temptations. Reassuring you that He will always be with you "...even unto the end of the world."
(Matt. 28:20) Then He does something absolutely amazing.... He forgets that they ever happened. What a mighty God we serve. Being convicted?
Listen to the Lord.
Proverbs 18:10 "The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe."
