Shared on Wed, 01/24/2007 - 08:58This is another of my chronicles from a couple of years ago. Just FYI, and
please keep in mind, when I mention specific events, those events were
from back then and not now.
Prayer
Well, I think this week I am going to pour out my heart a little. You
all are used to getting the weekly e-mails and I do refer to some
daily experiences I have. Well, going through what Stacy and I have
gone through over the last 5 days, I believe God wants me to share, in
a way, that is a little more personal. I know we all pray. It is
something that is almost second-nature for a Christian to do. Talking
to God, asking God for forgiveness, mercy, love and wisdom. Stacy and
I had a huge need last week. A need that, pretty much, surpassed all
of our other needs.
We knew that we could not do it on our own. In fact, felt helpless.
Wallace called us on the way to the hospital and let us know that he
had sent an e-mail out to everyone asking for prayer. My parents went
to a church party and asked that they pray for Ian. My point is this;
no prayer, no power. More prayer, more power. The Bible simply says:
"Ask and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and
it shall be opened unto you." (Matthew 7:7) Folks, it's that simple. I
believe that the more prayer there is, the better. God's power is
endless and boundless. Don't be shy to ask Him to share some of it
with you. He wants you to. Now, that doesn't mean you are going to get
whatever you want right away, or at all. God knows your heart and will
answer your prayer in His time, not yours. Sometimes it's a test.
Other times, you may not be asking the right question. Even other
times it's a want and not a need. Now, don't get me wrong, God can
bless you with a want. But, it's because He trusts you with it and
wants to share it with you. It's His, not yours. Some people have
prayed for something they wanted and received it. My family is an
example. Because we have been obedient is certain areas, God has
chosen to bless us. I didn't deserve a bit of it, but He has entrusted
us with it, for His will. Back to the original point. We had a lot of
people praying for Ian, and for us. The cool thing is, that when this
all began to happen, I thought 'Here we go again!'. But, after talking
to my parents and to Wallace and Joe, I felt at peace knowing God was
taking care of it. DO NOT DOUBT THE POWER OF ALMIGHTY GOD. I leave you
with this. It is one of my favorites. It's when Moses was questioning
God's choice of him to lead the Hebrews out of Egypt and reminds that
He will always be there.
And He said to him, "Take the staff in your hand, Moses, with it you
will do my wonders." (Exodus 4:17)
The staff is representative of many things, to me. It can be the Word
of God, or your faith in Christ, or even.........prayer.
