My Ass Is Getting Old

I am 43 years old and falling apart.  Went yesterday to the eye doctor.  I haven't seen an eye doctor since I was in high school.  I have always had good eyes.  About 6 months ago I noticed that I was starting to hold papers further away while reading them.  I didn't think much about it.  It started to annoy me enough that I figured it was time to do something about it.  Went to the eye doctor and just like I suspected, my eyes are just getting old. The lady who did the first couple of tests was real good about explaining things to me.  She talked about how young eyes were flexibible and were able to focus in and out and as the eye grows older, it takes longer to do this.  I had noticed this also but hadn't thought much about it.  Long story short, I have an astigmatism in both eyes.  Doctor told me I had the same problem he had.  Recommended glasses but he knew by looking and talking to me, I wasn't going to wear them full time.  He said eventually I was going to have to have them but it was up to me.  I decided I am going to go ahead and get them and try to wear them.  I may end up just wearing them for reading.  I asked about wearing them while gaming.  He said that while gaming, we don't blink as much and our eyes dry out.  So long story short, you young guys enjoy it while you can.  Your asses will be old before you know it.

At least yours came on gradually. I literally woke up one morning and couldn't read without a bright light. I tried to plug in a jumper on a motherboard and could not see it. Need bifocals

Be thankful you haven't needed glasses for 43 years! I've been stuck with glasses since the 4th or 5th grade. :(

@ alabama My doctor was telling me yesterday that some people just wake up and there vision changed overnight. Very weird that this can happen. @ johnny I am thankful because my parents would have killed me. I know I would have broken a lot of glasses growing up.

I decided to go, more than anything, to rule out any health problems with the eye. Dr. asked me if I had high cholesterol. I said not that I know and he said I have signs of it in my eyes. Now I have to get that checked out.
