Fable 2 vs. Oblivion

As I mentioned in my last blog, I have been playing Oblivion and loving it.  A student of mine let me borrow his Fable 2 until he gets his 360 repaired.  Now I had rented Fable 2 for a couple of days and had started the game and was enjoying it.  Then I discovered Oblivion.  Yesterday when I got home, I decided to give Fable 2 a little play time.  Not sure what the problem was but all I could think about was Oblivion.  I was at the point in the game where a ghost had sent me to break a girls heart.  I had to impress her so for several minutes I had to strike a pose or whistle at her.  I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood or what but I couldn't get into it last night.  I really want to beat Fable 2 because it is a good game but Oblivion is calling my name.  Fable 2 is like the ditzy cheerleader you hooked up with in high school.  Looked good and fun while it lasted.  Oblivion is like that first older woman you hooked up with that taught you things you never knew existed.  So much more to experience.

That is the best analogy I have ever heard for Fable vs Oblivion. Give in to Oblivion. I still go back and play it every so often. One of the best games ever made.

Agreed. And to think, Fallout 3 is more fun than Oblivion! (IMO) Just doesn't seem possible.

I have to agree. I enjoyed Fallout 3 the most. In fact, Fallout 3 was the only reason I gave Oblivion a try again. I actually have Mass Effect and I need to try it again also. Somewhere along the way I lost interest. Now that I have a better understanding of rpgs, I think I will like it better.

Oblivion was one of the most addictive games I've every played. I loved how you could choose to do anything you wanted in that game. Fallout has been just as enjoyable. I love the feeling that I need to scramble to make sure i have enough supplies to get around the world.

First let me applaud your analogy. I couldn't stop laughing! I am still in the midst of my Fallout 3 addiction, and Oblivion is on my list (Waiting to get the GOTY edition). Mass Effect I HIGHLY recommend. It is different from Fallout 3, but in my opinion equally as good as F3. The explorer in me loved traveling to different planets, finding things that weren't on the "map" by just looking around. Plus the story and play is a lot of fun. I played the first Fable and it was fun, have been curious about Fable 2. I'll probably end up playing it - later. And since you sound new to it - welcome to RPGs!
