Cable vs Satellite

From my understanding you can hook up to 4 to 1 dish. A friend has it and I'm pretty sure thats what he told me when he signed up. I think you also need a receiver for each tv.

The thing to keep in mind with a dish is they make you sign a contract. If you end up not liking it like me ( I have Direct TV ) then you are stuck unless you pay a huge early disconnect fee.\r \r I got the package of Direct TV with Verizon DSL and Phone. I hate the freaking DSL and wish I had never switched to it but I'm stuck for 2 years. 8(

i've had dish, direct, and comcast cable. the cable was the best sevice, most reliable, the most options, and way more expensive.\r \r direct was dissapoiting in their reliability, ok for service, and a decent price.\r \r i have dish right now. decent price, a little more reliable, and good customer service.\r \r with that said, my first choice would be cable, but i can't afford it right now, and i am happy with my dish service. \r \r i currently have four tv's hooked to the dish. the tv's are paired to share the recievers. so i have two boxes for four tv's. it can be a pain because you can not watch and record another show on every tv at the same time. once we got used to planning on what to watch/record on which reciever, things have been smooth.\r \r hope that helps.

Sounds like I had better stick with cable for now.

almost forgot...if your a sports fan, dish provides more for less than direct. direct no longer has versus sports as it was bought by comcast. dish will loose their contract with versus in two years. \r \r the sports package add ons for dish are also cheaper than direct.

I like my DirectTv--Comcast was a big suck monkey.

I have CenturyLink and Dish. I bundled everything, phone, dsl, and Dish for a very attractive price. For HD, it's one receiver for every HD tv. I have 2 receivers and 4 tv's. Like satellites on screen guide better

What the fuck, you spend $83/month for basic analog cable? Are they fucking insane billing that much?? That is highway robbery, i'd put an antenna on my roof before i'd pay that for TV, and the shittiest most restrictive package at that.\r \r Doesn't matter which dish network you go with, you are billed based on the number of TVs you hook up to it because you'll need to 'rent' a receiver for each TV, and you'll pay based on the programming package you want to go along with it. The packages are just like cable, you have a basic lineup and then an enhanced and then the specialty channels and sports packages If you want HD content, i'd recomend the dish network, they broadcast everything in 720p minimum. \r \r I'm actually thinking about disconnecting my tv subscriptions altogether. Between netflix instant watch, hulu and downloading shows over bit-torrent, i don't need broadcast TV . When i moved a year ago it used to cost me 12 bucks a month for basic analog cable but it went up to 25/month and i'm still pissed at that, there's no way in hell i would ever pay what yo're paying for TV.\r \r

It loks like on Dish network right now their Bronze package which is 55 channels in HD is 34.99/month and includes 3 receivers (so it's a setup for 3 TVs)\r \r
