Glad to see you getting back into art, wish I was motivated enough to do the same. You mentioned this was a sketch program, is it Sketchbook Pro? I have a version of it from a few years back, and it is still my favorite one to use.

I know how you feel. I always believed I would end up as an illustrator of some sort but here I am stuck in an office job instead. Havent picked up a pencil in years. Keep up the good work.

hey man. looks nice. i normally don't read the blogs, so i came across this by chance. i'm a professional artist and designers, so i like to think i know a little bit about what i'm talking about. this isn't a critique by any means just some potential unsolicited advice. you might help fix the feeling you're getting of his back flattening out if you stop using black to shade with. try killing all of your black and use darker to more light more chromatic blues and purples to shade. then when you feel like have some definition bring your blacks in to cross hatch and add more detail and definition. it may not work, but i try to avoid using black altogether when it comes to natural shading. i know comic styles is different, but black is used more for cross hatching than blended shading. you can tell your drawing is solid though man. good work overall.

have you tried gimp for drawing? i know it has layers similar to photoshop. it makes doing edits and brushwork easier because you overlay layers.
