The shelter did really well this weekend!!! Many of my friends' Pen Pals were adopted, as well as other available animals! I also had the chance to work with Toby, my brand new pen pal!

Performing Behavior Evaluations, Santa Paws, and Hanging with Shadow

Volunteering at the shelter this weekend was really interesting!  I assisted in a few dog behavior evaluations and I learned a ton!  I also was nipped by a dog for the very first time in that environment.  I've volunteered there for about four years without any sort of bite-related incident.  The only other dog bite I received was from my friend's Bichon Frise (about two years ago).  That was also the worse dog bite I've received...

My "Pen Pal," Reggie: ADOPTED!!!

This past week was a great one at the animal shelter!  The best news is that my "Pen Pal," Reggie was adopted by a wonderful family!  Reggie came to our shelter after being neglected for quite some time.  The most obvious sign of neglect was a scar the circled his lower abdomen and went across his back.  We didn't know what it was from, but one of my friends said it could've been from a tether that slipped down and eventually became too tight.

About Me

I volunteer at a large animal shelter in Philadelphia. It's one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. Here I'll chronicle the work I perform at the shelter and feature some of the amazing animals that I have the chance to work with. I'll also show the progress my rescued buddy, LaLa is making.
