Shared on Tue, 04/11/2006 - 15:19I am not sure if it was the inspiration of issue #1 or just because I started trolling blogs and forums to find people with opinions and stuff to talk about, but Im getting many great submissions for issue #2 (and great new editors to review the submissions).
Ill post again later when I have my spreadsheet in front of me, but the topics that are currently covered are going to be great. There is still a slight lack of news articles, but Im not pushing that direction yet because I want to wait a bit longer so that any new bleeding edge news that arrives gets to be in the magazine. If you find something on the Net that you think would be great to inform the 2old2players about then drop me a line: editor@2old2play.com
Ive signed up a bunch of female gamers for this issue (hopefully I get more editorials from them next month as well). This is great because the gaming market is so highly driven by men that its hard to remember that its not just a boys sport anymore toto. This here is a magazine for mature gamers and us adults realize that both men and women can frag a n00b and no scope a show off.
The primary focus for this months issue (if anyone is interested in picking up some editorials and reviews) will be Independant Gaming companies. I want to let readers know that there are many folks out there in the world living in a closet and eating Mac&Cheese to save money to pay their bills in order to live the dream of a game developer. Game developers, believe it or not, work extremely long hours with not as much monetary reward as many of us Application Developers and embedded hardware developers. These guys deserve some spotlight and, although not all the games that are published are 5 star quality, they have a great set of concepts, game play, and design. ANYONE can come up with a design for a game but only a select crew can write the code, compose the music, spin out some art, and make an entertaining piece of work.
The secondary focus is on parental guidance, gaming at home, sex &violence , entertainment gaming ratings, and how we handle our kids on the Internet and in the world of technology. Anyone reading this blog understands what Im talking about: Parents need to be involved in what theyre kids are doing with technology and if your mom or dad cannot figure out how to move a mouse or what a monitor is (no, its not just a big TV) it is going to be hard to conceptualize what your kids are doing on this here Internat thang.
I have articles already submitted explaining this concept, what to watch out for, and how they handle it. Not just from men, but from women as well. Both a man and a women participate in a childs life why should only one have to handle technology and protecting their kids from harm? They shouldnt; the folks at 2old2play know this, and I will make sure everyone gets a chance to hear what they have to say.
Also expect a kick ass new design. Lunatik has a new designer working with him and theyre hashing out an organized masterpiece for the next issue. More professional, more organized and more fun to look at and read. If your not entertained then its not working. We arent, as lunatik would say, "printing quarterly reports for the board", were trying to provide a fun piece of entertainment that gives views, news, facts, fictions, and humor.
Have a nice day.
