Shared on Sat, 04/01/2006 - 20:00Figured I would blog about the time I have spent this weekend re-coding the site with Dsmooth. First off, I think I have spent around 20 hours so far coding away and making all the necessary changes. It has been a painful experience but luckily I have my coding master Dsmooth right by my side. If this was just me coding we would have surely lost the site entirely. I already screwed up the player map sections and thankfully DS had a backup.
Anyway, things are looking to come together as nicely as they can with an update this large. Im sure we are going to have thousands of bugs when we reopen on Monday, but at least it will be running. Im happy to see the redesign showing off more of our community then the old one. It is now easier to check out members, sign up, and find all your User features. The idea I had for adding a sign in / User box will help people tremendously. Now everyone will be able to access their account, blog, profile, and soon videos too. This should make things a lot easier. Im hoping to get the Game Trading software up as well, but in all honestly its looking like it will have to follow later on this week. There is just so much more coding and styling to do. The biggest change for people will most likely be the format of the forums. Since that really is main feature on 2o2p, we wanted to make it fully "wide screen" so people have a lot of room for content and sigs.
The only main concern we had was for the loss of navigation, but I think the top nav will solve all those problems. We place all the other main features on the top as well as the ability to quickly access your account or log out. Well, I guess I should get back to work now. Hopefully i can meet the Monday morning dead line. See you all then.
