Its quite simple really, I try to sleep but sometimes Im denied.  It sucks I actually enjoy being asleep, its my time to escape, not worry about daily life. Like what Im going to do next, or how I feel like Im the only person in this country that is afraid of the direction we are taking.  I tell you this because this is what saturates my thoughts while Im not sleeping lying there thinking, wishing, and actually telling myself to stop thinking but that just makes it worse.  Normally I end up tossing and turning till about 2am, then give up and go turn on the tube, sit there watching the stupidest programing that I have ever seen hoping that it will force my brain to turn off.  Yet again that doesnt work and I normally end up siting there with the volume low thinking.  So whats wrong with me?  Well theres a history of restless leg sydrome in my family, but as one of the millions of americans without health insurance I cant afford to find out if thats my problem, besides they would just give me drugs, and I would end up addicted to those which is not a path that I would like to persue.  So for now it really just boils down to I will get to sleep when my body cant take being awake anymore that normally take a few days so mabye halo will keep me company while I wait, at least I wont have to hear players curse at me in english, it will be in some other language that I cant understand, at least thats better.

No sleep sucks.

Im with ya there. I havent had a good night sleep in years. Like you I have no idea why; when I was a little younger it was no problem sleeping for a good 12 hours. Ive tried drinking a nightcap (usually Kaluah and milk), new mattress, new mattress pads, cold AC, no AC, etc. The only thing I don’t want to try is medication.Good luck and let me know if you figure something out…

Hey dude, I often have problems sleeping too.  What helps me is to get into a workout routine.  It is hard to do at first because you are tired from not sleeping, but if you can push through the first two weeks and keep at it for at least 30 minutes a day (lift weights, jog, bike, aerobics, whatever) you may find that you just start zonking out when you lay down at night.  If that doesnt work, you can try taking melatonin.  It is the same chemical that your body makes to make you sleepy, and it is very cheap with no side effects.  Lab animals have been pumped full of it with no adverse effects.Anyway, Im not sure if you were looking for advice, but since I have struggled with this problem myself I thought I might offer some help.

Malice, I feel your pain.  I have insomnia and have had it since I was really young.  In my early twenties I would go 3, sometimes 4 days without any sleep.  Now I usually get around 2 to 3 a night, if Im lucky 4.  No easy answers.  I just usually keep going until my body shuts itself down.  I dont even bother lying down until Im so tired I cant see straight.  I do find, however, that when I do sleep 7 or 8 hours I feel horrible when I wake up.  Just dont start taking sleeping pills.  They are basically all addictive.
