PS3's First Video Chat Game

Sony's SCEA boss Kaz Hirai talks about Resistance: Fall of Man and mentions "Video Chat" feature?

In an interview with next-gen.biz Kaz drops the quote:

"But talking about online gameplay one of the most important things for example is that Resistance: Fall of Man will support 40 players online as well as video chat, text chat, voice chat, rankings for games, downloading additional content for your games like levels, weapons or characters depending on the game and their online capabilities."

Most of the features have been talked about many times in the past - but Video Chat? That's a new one that slid into the feature set for this release. This makes you wonder, when is Sony's Eye Toy camera really hitting the market? Sony hasn't mentioned its launch date? Will it arrive at the same time as Resistance: Fall of Man?

Sony's next camera add-on will be out to tackle microsoft's video solution and starts their attack by enabling video chat in a true multiplayer title (as opposed to simple arcade title.) Do we all wish to see those that we're gaming with? Perhaps, in a multi-player experience with friends this would be a great feature, but for anonymous gaming? Do we really want to see the twelve year old that pwned us with their 300+ hours logged on the game?

In any case, the attack is on. Games are going video faster than some would have hoped - but it's here to stay.
