Finding the time...

Wanted: a support group for grown-ups who would love to actually GAME every now and then but cannot seem to find the time.  Seriously I don't remember the last time I logged onto XBox Live, the last time on PSN was over a week ago or so for 20 minutes of CoD action with the brother, and since subscribing to GameFly 3 months ago I've checked out and played 2 games total.  This is getting absurd, and I'm going to have to find another way of approaching this hobby of mine.

Historically, I've been somewhat of an everything-gamer, trying out different titles across platforms, genres, etc. to experience all the industry had to offer.  These days, I've got a max of 1-2 hours a night if 1) the kids make it to bed on time, 2) there aren't other things I have to do (around the house, for work, errands and especially 3) I actually have the energy to do it.  There's no way I can possibly play everything I want given the time I actually have to game.

I've got a nice gaming laptop, a 360, a PS3 and a Wii.  The games I want to play on all of them are a mile long.  I don't have the time.  Anyone else in this situation?  How do you cope?  Should I ditch a system or two?  Start pruning the list and get REALLY selective (deep dives into just a few instead of playing through everything possible)?  Focus only on multiplayer stuff that gives a lot of mileage and kiss my beloved single-player adventure/RPG/etc. titles goodbye?

Yeah, I tend to buy more games than I can play, hence short-changing some tremendous games I should have played more. I need to dump the Wii just to free up time for Xbox and PS3. I usually only play exclusives on the PS3 and do most of my gaming on the 360. Anyway, same situation as you!

My suggestion is just to be super selective. I'd prefer to sit down and really enjoy a title rather than blazing through a ton of them and not getting as much out of it.

I'm in the same boat and I ultimately avoid all compulsive game purchases. Other than Toy Story 3 for my kid, the last game I bought was RDR at launch, and the last game before that was Bad Company 2. There are several great games I've missed , but at least I'm able to really enjoy those few games I end up buying.

I'd be more selective. I used to blaze thru titles, but now I pretty much stick to AAA titles and sometimes I'll buy games used if they have good appeal after the marketing blaze. Also cut down on gaming systems and be more selective consolewise. This is gonna take crackerjack timing, Wang.

I'm in the same boat man. My 250gb PS3 is collecting dust and my XBOX is dying (no warranty as I modded the case). So I'm ready to say goodbye to the Trey and grab the new sexy Reach slim. All my gaming is geared towards MP. Solo gaming just isn't as fun anymore.

with your limitations you don't have time to show love to all those gaming devices. Keep one console and the PC, use the cosole to game with friends and your pc to game while you travel or solo game. I'd also ditch gamefly. By the AAA titles that everyone is playig for long periods of time like COD, Halo, Gears and just stick with that, buy them out right instead of having a monthly due.
