It was 2 full city blocks of breweries, vood vendors and (for some strange reason) a jewlery vendor (I think they mixed up the dates and meant to get a booth at the Arts Fest that was 2 weeks earlier). But the beer flowed freely, the food vendors didn't rape us with crazy prices (they were a bit high, but not crazy). A co-worker, his brother, his brother-in-law, my lovely wife, and even an appearance by 2old2play's own Snuphy made the day about so much more than just beer.....Dont get me wrong, the beer was awesome, about 40 breweries each featuring 2-6 different beers, hard cider, Barley wine, or what ever strange mixtures they could come up with. My wife ended up drinking a TON of cider called Granny Smith that was completly clear, I stuck with the darker/black/Double Stout end of the beer spectrum.
The whole event was an amazing experience, tere were no crazy drunks, every one was happy, sociable and there to party. people would see your t-shirt and stop to comment on it, ask where you got it and that short intro would turn into a 20min conversation about everythign from video games to comics, to discussions about tv shows or how much we hated the bands that were playing even though they were really good. It was an entire event of kindred spirits. I ended up having a long talk with the guys at Torcbearer's hot sauce booth since apparently they have never seen someonecome back for a 3rd sample of their new GhostPepper sauce Zombie Appocolypse (weighing in at over 300,000SU) it was really good, a nice citrus bite, and while the burn stuck with you (even through several beers) there was no odd aftertaste those sauces normally have. (yeah, I told them I'd give them some free advertising.)
After 3 1/2hr of drinking beer and meeting new friends, it was time to leave, stumble our way around the capital building and meet our DD. then it was back home to sleep off the buzz, and deal with a day and a half of hangovers...
I did manage to get some good videos, however at the request of my co-workers I will not be posting them online due to the fact that they actually HAVE reputations to maintain and standing in the middle of the street, completly smashed is not a good thing.
This was the first time I actually met anyone from the 2old2play family, and it was a blast. I hope to see Snuphy at next year's Brew Fest, and I'm REALLY looking forward to meeting more of you at the LAN.
