There is a pipe in our front yard near the side walk, that protrudes up through the grass.

Anyways, yesterday, we notice that it is suddenly pumping out water, popsicle sticks, and paper.   Didn't really think anything of it, other then to have a plumber come out and look at it.

Fast forward to this late afternoon...  I get home, and there is no water or anything coming out.  Ok...  optimistically, I'm hoping that it took care of itself.

One of these days I'm going to learn to stop hoping like that.

I go out to get the mail after dinner, and the pipe is spewing water again...  but, also more paper...  and then, I notice....  SHIT.  WTF?  I've got raw sewage spewing out of the pipe on my front lawn.  WTF!!!

So I run down to a neighbor who I know is a plumber and ask his opinion.  "Is the pipe near the street or near the house?" he asks...  Street.  "Good," he says, "that's the City's problem...  they have a back-up somewhere.  Give them a call and have them come out and look at it.  If the pipe had been near the house, then it would have been your issue.  As it is, since it is near the street, it is an issue with thier waste management."

So, one catastrophe avoided...  somewhat...  if you can look past the liquid shit flowing out on my front yard and side walk.  We'll see what the City has to say when they get out here.

You wouldn't have this problem if you would stop flushing your tampons.

you may want to boil your water for a few days...just in case.....no I'm not a plumber, but I have seen what contaminated drinking water can do to a person...its not worth the risk.

Dude wouldn't it have been better if it was your problem? You could have call a plumber on emergency and problem fixed. Now you have to wait till the city sends someone. How long do you think thats going to take?

@ ekattan Raw sewage is a health risk. That's not a "we'll get someone out there sometime next week" kind of problem Also, If it was his problem he'd be paying out of pocket.......and most likely paying a lot.

@Automan21k - If the Domestic water is from a Well then boil the water or use bottled (Much Better), then shock the well when the problem is fixed. If you have City water they are on different systems and the sewage will not get in to your water lines. and avoid Flip-Flops out front for a while ;)
