FUCKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!! didn't get the promotion...they decided to give it to the guy who's currently banging his co-worker; which is quite a feat considdering how far his head is up certain managers' asses all day every day.... unlike me, who is married to one of his co-workers, while working very hard to make his supervisor's look good so they'll think well of him...

btw, apparently Islay region Scotch is an acquired taste...So far it tastes like very good Scotch blended with stagnant sea water...and by the end of tonight I think I'll have acquired it.

Scotch is a magical, if acquired, taste. Not sure how you're taking it, but try 3 parts whisky to one part cool (cellar temperature) clean (filtered or spring) water. It was explained to me that scotch (or any other whisky for that matter) is a lot like frozen concentrated orange juice in that it's good, but doesn't taste right if you don't thin it out some.

@minemagnet, II have my mixture down for Speyside and the Highlands, but Islay is like nothing I've ever tasted. my normal mixture is 2 ounces of scotch, 9 drops of water....but with Islay I almost have to go 2oz scotch 1 oz water to mellow the brine.

but yes, I drink about 2 bottles of scotch a month, with Grants and Glenmorangie as my favorites. I thought I'd mix it up and try a different region....that may have been a mistake.

Sorry to hear about the job. And, VERY sorry that you tried that scotch. I surely hope that it's not Laphroaig. That stuff tastes like a big ol' chaw of peat moss with every sip. I've been trying to pawn that off on unsuspecting guests that come by. There's no way that I'm drinking it! I go through about a bottle of Balvenie Double Wood a month. Great stuff.

That sucks, but don't give up. We don't always get the promotions when they come up the each time, but eventually we do and then we look toward the next.
