Shared on Sun, 11/22/2009 - 10:18There will be a lot to do for any gaming enthusiasts who are in the Boston are on December 5th this year. Check out how my day is shaping up and let me know if you would like to join in the fun.
Betson Coin-op Auction in Canton, MA
Betson Enterprises, one of New England's largest active coin-op entertainment operators, will be hosting their anual coin-op auction on Saturday, December 5th. You can read more about this auction and get links to Betson's homepage here . Games will be open for preview starting at 10:00 am and the first bids go up at 11:00. I will be attending this event with seveal members of the New England Arcade Collectors Group. This will be a great opportunity to check out what is currently available in the way of coin-operated arcade games and meet some collectors local to the New England area.
Penny Arcade Forum Members Meet-up
Later that day, several members of the Penny Arcade forum will be having our December per-PAX_EC meetup. We have been having regular gatherings such as this in preparation for the fist Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) event to hit the east coast, which will be coming to the Boston area in March of 2010. So if you live in New England and are planning to attend PAX_EC in March, this will be a great opportunity to meet other locals who will be attending the event and start preparing for one of the greatest gaming conventions out there today.
Video Game Orchestra - Awakening
The Video Game Orchestra will be performing their next concert, Awakening, at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston later that evening. They recently announced that Wataru Hokoyama, composer for AFRIKA and Resident Evil 5, will be a guest conductor for a portion of the show. If you have not seen the VGO perform live yet, you really should try and make it to this show. Tickets are only $15 ($20 on the day of the show) and doors will open at 7:00 pm.
So if you don't already have plans for December 5th, and you love video games, try to make it to one or all of these events. I will be hitting up all three with several other locals and anyone from 2old2play is more than welcome to join us. Just pm me for contact info.
