Remember the way things were before everyone had blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and even MySpace? That time where if you heard someone speak, or read an article it was from someone who meant something? Someone who knew what they were talking about?

No, this isn’t a rant against anyone here, infact I love reading the blogs, forums and articles here…even though we are a rather large site, I still feel a connection to every one of you. But then I listen to this from Tank's blog…..
and I am reminded of those we intentionally exclude from this site….those who pollute the gene pool to the point that I firmly believe they should be castrated before they spew a litter of mutant timmys into the world…. Listneing to this honestly disgusted me because of how this guy was treated….threats, accusations, and worse simply because he was chosen for the Xbox Gamer Spotlight….after hearing that story I feel bad for everyone who has ever received that honor. It makes me glad I never submitted my name for consideration as the Xbox live or the OXM Spotlight.
Has the existence of a Gamertag given these timmys, (young and old) the feeling of invincibility, anonymity, and authority to judge and harass?
I know that Xbox has ways of tracking these people, and punishing them, but an after the fact wrist slapping must be little comfort to those who were on the receiving end of such a torrent of insults. Taking action like this should be a BanHammer and system locking offence.
Look back, before this world where everyone could contact anyone. When a threatening letter to a celebrity ended with the FBI beating down your door, and an evening in handcuffs explaining that you didn’t really mean to threaten David Hasselhoff, and you just happened to find a roll of stamps and a blank letter while you were drunk….(not that I’d know anything about that….um….ahem….anyway…)
Back then we wrote fan letters, you took your time to spell out words, check your grammar, and actually sign the letters with your real name just in case they responded. And the harassing phone calls were only received by people with crazy ex-lovers and people who won the lottery but forgot to disconnect their phones and move into a hotel until the dust died down.
But here we are, a person’s screen name is posted in a place where all can see, and suddenly he becomes a target by people who feel they can get away with it, not that they have anything to gain….they individually show the traits of a violent mob.
But what are they expecting….”oh, you insulted me, please don’t hurt me, here, take this blank check with my blessings” or “why thank you for that gracious insult, let me add you to my friends list and send you XBL point codes.”?
It makes me want to block all contact with non-2o2p members.

Of course, I blame their parents….the same old “let them learn about the world by playing online games, I’m sure they will grow up just fine without being taught morals or ethics…”
I hate Timmys….they are reason #50434992 not to have kids…..even if YOU raise them right, the odds are good that they will just be corrupted by the genetic cast off of some do nothing DNA donors that was raised by the world as seen through a bias, intolerant, anti-ethical filter.    I may be Agnostic, but I do see the benefit of teaching religion even if it’s just to keep them from becoming the worthless little shits we’ve all seen online.

- and Just to prove that I am not one who will hide behind my gamer tag, if you ask I will tell you my full RL name, But in the company of friends I am my gamertag, and I do seek to keep it a reputable name as much as I seek to keep my family's name reputable.
