It has been a while since I posted a blog, so I guess I should catch everyone up….assuming you care….if you don’t care just post a comment saying “I don’t care” and I’ll be sure to ignore it and tell you what’s been going on with me anyway…

 
Basically, I am still using my rather expensive education to remove staples form contracts, and now I’m also auditing the operations of another section….it’s really not as exciting as it sounds(not that it sounds exciting)….the section is our imaging team…so I am taking EVERYTHING they scan, and looking it up in our database to see if they really did scan it and verify that they didn’t miss any pages …and since the budget has not passed, we still don’t get paid for it…
 
I have sent out even more applications…you wouldn’t think it would be that hard to find a job with my résumé, in fact my job should be in great demand because the economy is so crappy (and yes I still blame the media for causing the economic downturn)….But the military has declined me for flight school because my eyes are 1 step past the threshold…Figures….
 
The basement is coming along nicely, room one is only missing one wall of drywall, and room 2 still needs some insulation and a bit of carpentry work before the 3 bare walls can be covered….but I plan on fixing all of that this weekend…maybe even a little tonight depending on how I feel….btw, have I mentioned how much I HATE working with fiberglass insulation?....
 
And finally, I have to spend some time this weekend with my Marxist Liberal sister…we are normally ok if we avoid talking about Politics, Religion, Movies, Art, Philosophy, Music, World/Current Events, Economics, any videogames not available on the Wii (and not controllable by a plastic guitar), our daily activities, hobbies, food, the future, the past, and anything that may happen in the present…..or anything involving words longer than one syllable….fun fun….
 
This day really has me in an odd kind of ticked off mood…the kind of mood that has me listening to Disturbed and getting frustrated because they aren’t “aggressive” enough for me….so I’m listening to Dir en Gray, Lamb of God, Devildriver, and a few others…
 
I’m just starting to wonder how much longer I can stand to be sitting on the sidelines like this. I was never the kind of guy to be warming the bench, to not be neck deep in some kind of special project or buried in a chaotic problem that no one has seen before….it makes me wish I had started my own consulting firm….
 
And something else that really ticked me off….possibly what put me in this mood to begin with…my best friend from High School was in town 3 weeks ago, visiting from Arazona, went out to a bar with everyone, had a great weekend….I just found out about it last night….they didn’t think I’d want to see any of them because of the old gang, I’m the only one without kids, so it would have been awkward for me….
They were out at a bar, no kids, no wives, just the old gang getting back together….I really feel like I was trampled on and kicked to the curb. More so since I had to find out via his photo blog.
It really makes me wish I was going to the LAN to hang out with some REAL friends…no, more than friends….Real Family…but it’s just not in the cards this year since during the LAN, I will be in Kure Beach North Carolina. I know I mentioned this before, but I would love to get together with some members, so if you’re from the area, drop me a line….First round’s on me…

it's just the frustration of being stuck...traped...and the whole Cubicle thing doesn't help either....

Be patient young grasshopper. It takes the average higher educated person about six months to a year to find an equivalent job or better. Now is not the time to go into self consulting work. Have you thought about local government? Keep in mind you might end up moving for a better job.

@Char, doe to some local business connections I'm afraid I'd be imediatly DQed for local government....I just feel this imminent need to move on before things get worse, and all signs point to things getting much worse.

@ Snuffy....aren't you suposed to be brewing your own?btw, I get all my homebrew supplies form a place in Lemoyne, they sell empty bottles, blank caps, hops, malt, barley, brew tanks, books, Carboys for fermenting, all the supplies.....and an FYI stock up on Metabisulphate....it is THE key to keeping your beer from turning...

I've been in Scotzin Bros a couple of times for odds and ends. But they're only open wed & sat from 10-5. And they only accept cash. I have a tough time working within those parameters. Doesn't metabisulphate usually go in wine? Will it also work in beer?? My first 2 beer batches worked without it. Batch 3 bubbled thru the airlock sun night, so now I worry . . . .

Use the Meta to sterilize everything, it works as well as bleach, but if a little bit gets in the beer it won't kill the yeast or ruin the beer like bleach will. it will give better control for fermentation by eliminating any wild yeast or bacteria. and since it's the gasses formed by meta that kills bacteria, you can get the sanatizing done with small ammounts, just swish it around your fermenter and seal it up overnight, the gas is lighter than air so you can store your gear upsidedown with the gas in it and keep every thing steril. as for the bubbling out the airlock, so long as you throw out the stuff in the airlock and don't put it back in the batch you should be fine...and just a hint from my experience, put a meta solution in the airlock too, it works beter than water....

Hey Auto... you said that you were having trouble finding "governemtn' work due to local busniess ocnnections... well... why stay in that town? Do you have anything holding you back? The old highschool friend thing... hmmm... are you sure they didnt' invite you cause of the kids thing? In a drama free way (I stress that... drama free) you can jmust make sure that is the case. If it is, then tell them : no way, I want to hang out with you guys. It doesn't matter that things have changed. BE WARNED: Your friends will talk about poop and sleep schedules. Smile and nod. Heck: if you want to salvage the realationship: show them that you are cool with them having kids: you can even ask them about the kids. "How are they sleeping, how is pooty training going, can I teach your kids to make the devil horns and say "Rock and ROLL BITCHES!!" Again: drama free... you may want to tell them what assholes they are, but if you do that, what have you gained? Not much and you would have lost hte friendship.

@J-cat oh, I told them about it....and turns out they were only talking about movies and video games....friggin asshats... but yes I am considdering other areas...since my lovely wife appears to have fallen in love with the Seattle Area I have been patrolling their job forums constantly. But to move we would both have to be able to find work.

I’ve been using a sanitizer called 1 step. I put it in my primary fermenter with all my other stuff while I brew a batch. That way everything gets close to 2 hours of contact time before it’s touched by beer. Same thing for transfer to carboy and transfer to bottling bucket/bottles. I also use it in the air locks. The only things not getting doused with sanitizer are the bottles. I’ve been running them in the dish washer. So far so good. I had a spare airlock for batch 3. It’s filled with sanitizer. I cleaned and sanitized the top of the fermenter best I could, then replaced the airlock with a brand new, clean one. It was bubbling happily this morning. Hopefully it’s stays happy. You have anything brewing??
