New Horizons and a Contest

Doodirock, in his infinite (if sometimes confounding) wisdom has seen fit to give the title of Community Manager here at 2oldplay. My main focus in this new position will be to help promote 2old2play to the greater gaming universe outside and to help organize 2old2play events. This will include events such as the upcoming "Grudge Match" South Florida gaming community SFX360 & the 2old2play Community Playdate on Xbox Live (February 2nd), in addition to various fund-raisers, in-house programs and of course our annual Chi-LAN to be held each summer.

The possibilities are endless - and this is where I want to enlist the help of you, the members of 2old2play.com. What kind of events and programming do you want to see here in our ever-growing neck of the online woods? Do you want more tournaments? How about more charity-related programming? Would you like to see us branch out into new endeavors? If so, what do you have in mind? And of course, I will be doing my best to bring the best SWAG and Contests to 2old2play.com as well, because in the end, we all want more STUFF.

So if you have some ideas that you would like to see move from the dark, sleep-deprived recesses of your gamer minds and into the glorious light of the Front Page, let me know. I will be posting a thread in the Announcement Forum where you can post your ideas, requests and hopes. Please forward all complaints directly to doodi .

Oh yeah, and I did mention something about a contest didn't I? So one of my first official action as the new Community Manager here at 2old2play.com is to utilize Twitter to bring more awareness to our world here and all the cool things we are planning. To be able to use Twitter to promote 2old2play, I need people to follow me on Twitter (funny, but that is how the system works). So here is what I need you to do.

First - Do you already have a Twitter account? Good! If not, head on over to www.twitter.com, register and create a profile.

Second - Follow my Twitter by going to http://twitter.com/AOWWaterborn and clicking on the "Follow" tab just below my gamer-pic.

Third - Start pimping yourself out and encourage people to follow me via Twitter. Ask each new follower to post a short note along the lines "Following you thanks to <insert your username/gamertag here>". The first two people to convince 25 people to begin following my Twitter will receive a full collection of the first run Gears of War Comic Books (Issues # 1 - 6, plus the Gamestop Exclusive LE Copy of Issue # 1). Yes, I know issues # 4 - 6 are not out yet, so you will have to wait until March to collect your prize, but you will get it.
